On the morning of February 25, thousands of young men from provinces and cities in the Central region from Da Nang to Khanh Hoa left for military service. Among the young men selected this time, there were many special cases, all 3 brothers in the same family wrote applications to join the army; many new recruits were women, students or had stable jobs who volunteered to write applications to join the military.
The PV/VOV-Central Region team reported that on the morning of February 25, in Khanh Hoa province, more than 2,200 young men joined the army. Senior Lieutenant General Pham Hoai Nam, Deputy Minister of National Defense; Mr. Nguyen Hai Ninh, Secretary of Khanh Hoa Provincial Party Committee and leaders of Military Region 5, Khanh Hoa province attended the military handover ceremony in Nha Trang city. The military handover ceremony was organized quickly and neatly by localities, ensuring the requirements and the delivery of enough soldiers to the receiving units. This year, the military recruitment work was closely led and directed by the Party Committees, authorities at all levels, departments, branches and organizations of Khanh Hoa province, and seriously and effectively implemented.
This year, the number of young men enlisting in Khanh Hoa province reached 100% of the assigned target, with higher quality than last year. Among them, two twin brothers, Bui Tuan Khang and Bui Tuan Kien, voluntarily wrote an application to enlist, contributing their youth to protect the Fatherland. New recruit Bui Tuan Khang said that before that, his older brother Bui Tuan Kien had just returned from the army before Tet. Encouraged by their brother, Khang and Kien both wrote an application to volunteer to enlist.
"Previously, my older brother Bui Tuan Kien, born in 2003, joined the army and came back more mature. I stayed home to help my parents and didn't go to vocational school. Only my younger brother Bui Tuan Kien was supposed to go, but after thinking about it, my parents encouraged us so we both volunteered to go. In 2 years, I will try to complete my mission well," Tuan Khanh said.
Since early morning, more than 1,000 new recruits of Da Nang city have been present at the military handover points to join the military service. This year, Da Nang city has a relatively high rate of students reserving their study results to join the army, especially in central districts such as Hai Chau and Thanh Khe. The rate of young people with university, college and intermediate degrees accounts for nearly 40%, a significant increase compared to previous years.
Notably, for the first time, in a family in Da Nang city, three brothers voluntarily wrote an application to perform military service. They are the three brothers Nguyen Khac Tu Hien Nhan, Nguyen Khac Tu Hien Nhon and Nguyen Khac Tu Hien Phuc, residing in Tam Thuan ward, Thanh Khe district. Many new recruits are university and college students who temporarily put their studies on hold and voluntarily wrote an application to join the army.
New recruit Ho Quang Minh, 23 years old in Tam Thuan ward, Hai Chau district, currently the ward Youth Union Secretary, voluntarily wrote an application to perform military service to train himself: "I joined with the desire to train myself more, and also want to be more mature in the military environment. At home, I always talk to my mother more, to make her happier and always reassured that my son will complete his tasks well in the unit."
During this period, Quang Nam province had 4 young women voluntarily apply to join the military. Ho Thi Thanh Hang, 23 years old, in Dong Phu town, Que Son district, Quang Nam province, wanted to follow the military career path like her father since she was young. In July 2023, Ho Thi Thanh Hang graduated from university with a major in Tourism and Hotel Management with excellent results. Hang is working at a hotel with a salary of 8 million VND/month but always pursues the dream of one day joining the army.
Ho Thi Thanh Hang is very happy to become a new soldier: “I really want to follow my father’s military career. Since I was little, I have always remembered the image of my father, every time there was a natural disaster, storm, flood or epidemic, my father put aside his housework to take care of his people first. That image makes me always want to devote myself to the country.”
In this recruitment campaign, Binh Dinh province has more than 2,800 young men leaving for military and police service, including 5 women. The whole province has nearly 1,000 new recruits with professional qualifications, college and university degrees, 62 young men are party members. Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Van Bon, Head of the Military Department, Air Force Division 372, Air Defense - Air Force Service, representative of the unit receiving the recruits, said that the young men are trained in the military environment with a glorious tradition in combat, training and always excellently completing the tasks assigned by the Party, State and People.
Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Van Bon suggested that the young men who are about to join the army should try to overcome all difficulties, strive to study, cultivate and train to become excellent soldiers of the Army: “The units that receive soldiers will continue to educate and help the young men who join the army to always study and train in the best conditions to acquire knowledge about science and military, improve their qualifications in all aspects and become more mature. Thereby, contributing to building an increasingly disciplined, elite and modern army. The unit respectfully hopes that the Party Committee, the local government and the people will regularly pay attention to the family rear so that the young men who join the army can go to work peacefully”.
Also this morning, more than 2,000 excellent young people from Phu Yen province enthusiastically joined the army this time, including more than 200 young people who have graduated from university, college and vocational school.
Along with 30 provinces and cities across the country, on the morning of February 25, nearly 2,000 outstanding young people of ethnic groups in the mountainous provinces of Bac Kan and Cao Bang also eagerly set off to perform their military service.
PVCong Luan/VOV-Dong Bac reported that in Cao Bang, the handover ceremony for new recruits was held solemnly and safely by units and localities. This year, Cao Bang has nearly 1,000 new recruits performing military service and public security service, of which nearly 180 people wrote applications to volunteer to join the army. Most of the citizens joining the army this time have a secondary school education or higher.
In Bac Kan, this morning, localities also organized the handover of new recruits according to plan. Before that, localities from the province to the village and commune organized meetings, visited and encouraged young people to feel secure to join the army.
Hoang Kim Yen (Bach Thong district, Bac Kan province), one of four young women who volunteered to join the army, shared: “My family has a tradition of being attached to the army, my grandfather and parents both served in the army. Therefore, I also want to continue my family's tradition, so after completing my professional training program, I volunteered to join the army. At first, I was a bit worried, but with the encouragement of my family and friends, I was ready to participate in training, through which I will become more mature.”
