On behalf of the leaders of Hanoi City, Secretary of the City Party Committee Dinh Tien Dung sent best wishes to Most Venerable Thich Thanh Nhieu and all the monks, nuns, and Buddhists at home and abroad to celebrate a peaceful, joyful and happy Buddha's birthday.
According to the Secretary of the City Party Committee, in Vietnam, Buddhism is one of the important religions, having a great influence on social life. Buddha's Birthday has become a major festival for monks, nuns and Buddhists; solemnly organized by the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha to spread the cultural values and peaceful spirit of Buddhism.
Over the past time, the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha has continuously developed and grown in all aspects. The Sangha has mobilized monks, nuns, and Buddhists nationwide to live and work according to the Party's guidelines and policies, the State's policies and laws, fulfill their obligations as citizens, build a cultural life, eliminate hunger and reduce poverty, mobilize humanitarian aid, and help people facing difficult circumstances due to natural disasters, epidemics, and misfortunes in life, especially during the recent Covid-19 pandemic.
These humane activities are a continuation of the tradition of "Protecting the nation, bringing peace to the people", "Serving all living beings is making offerings to the Buddha", contributing to arousing responsibility and mutual love of the whole society, fostering the great solidarity of the whole nation.
Informing Most Venerable Thich Thanh Nhieu and other monks and dignitaries of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha about some outstanding results in implementing the task of socio-economic development of the Capital in recent times, Secretary of the City Party Committee Dinh Tien Dung respectfully thanked the important contributions of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha and the community of Buddhist dignitaries, monks, nuns and Buddhists throughout the city.
The Secretary of the City Party Committee suggested that the Church continue to accompany, support and contribute with the people of the whole country in general and the people of the Capital in particular to build a prosperous and developed country, for the goal of "Rich people, strong country, democracy, fairness and civilization".
With sincere gratitude for the attention and support of the Party Committee, government and people of the Capital, Most Venerable Thich Thanh Nhieu affirmed that the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha will continue to encourage monks, nuns and Buddhists to strive in accordance with the motto: Dharma - Nation - Socialism and the theme of the 9th Congress of the Sangha: "Discipline - Responsibility - Solidarity - Development", contributing to the construction of the Capital and the country to develop more and more.
On the same morning, Secretary of the City Party Committee Dinh Tien Dung and the city delegation visited and congratulated the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha of Hanoi. The Secretary of the City Party Committee respectfully thanked, acknowledged and highly appreciated the contributions of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha of Hanoi, monks, nuns and Buddhists to the development of the capital.
On behalf of the city's leaders, the Secretary of the Hanoi Party Committee sent best wishes to the venerable monks, nuns and Buddhists in the capital to celebrate Buddha's birthday joyfully, peacefully and happily.
At the same time, we hope to continue to receive the coordination and support of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha of Hanoi with the Party Committee and authorities at all levels of the city, for the common goal of socio-economic development and improving the lives of the people of the capital.
Most Venerable Thich Bao Nghiem, Vice President of the Executive Council and Head of the Central Propagation Committee of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha, Head of the Executive Committee of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha in Hanoi affirmed that the Sangha will continue to encourage monks, nuns, and Buddhists in Hanoi to strictly comply with the Party's guidelines and policies, the State's laws, and Buddhist teachings, contributing to the development of the capital and the whole country.
