On December 2, Ben Thanh Traffic Police Team (HCMC Traffic Police Department) issued a fine of 650,000 VND to a 22-year-old man and woman for carrying a person sitting on a motorbike without wearing a helmet and driving a motorbike with a person standing on the saddle according to Decree 100/2019.
Previously, on the night of November 30, these two people drove a motorbike carrying two young men behind them using their phones to record a video. One of them sat facing backwards, wearing a suit without a helmet while the other young man stood on the motorbike seat to record a video on Tran Hung Dao Street, District 1 (from Calmette Street to Le Loi Street). The group admitted that they did this to post the video on TikTok to get views.
The practice of riding motorbikes in violation of traffic laws to record videos for social media views has become common recently. In early November, three people aged 20-23 were riding a motorbike doing wheelies, letting go of the handlebars, and driving... in the Thu Thiem urban area of Thu Duc City and were detained by the police for investigation. Previously, model Ngoc Trinh was also arrested for similar behavior.
Last year, a young man who did a wheelie on Ba Son bridge to film a video for views was also fined.
