The incident occurred on September 3rd, when the pitbull raised by Mrs. NTS (66 years old) suddenly broke its chain and attacked Mr. NVĐ (Mrs. S.'s husband). When Mrs. S. saw her husband being attacked by the dog, she tried to chase him away but was immediately bitten by the dog. After that, the dog continued to bite two more people, Mrs. S.'s grandson and a worker at Mrs. S.'s family.

After being rescued, the four people bitten by dogs were taken to the Bac Giang General Hospital for emergency treatment. Of these, Ms. S. suffered the most severe injuries, with many soft tissue injuries, a broken leg bone, and severed blood vessels. Mr. D. suffered fractures and many soft tissue injuries. The other two people suffered soft tissue injuries.

Due to the severity of the injury, beyond the intervention capacity of Bac Giang General Hospital, Ms. S. was transferred to Viet Duc Friendship Hospital for surgery and is currently being treated at Hospital 108 (Hanoi).

According to information from the people, this pitbull weighs about 40 kg, and was bought by Ms. S.'s son to guard the house. Normally, the dog is kept in a cage. On September 3, this dog was released outside, wearing a leash, but suddenly broke the leash and attacked the owner.

According to Mr. Nguyen Van Loi, immediately after the incident, the pitbull was kept in captivity to monitor for signs of rabies.

In addition to the above incident, Bac Giang General Hospital also said that recently, the hospital has received many cases of dog bites causing very dangerous facial injuries, leaving serious consequences for the patient's health and spirit.

Among them was an 83-year-old female patient who was admitted to the hospital after being bitten in the face by her family dog. The patient underwent surgery to suture the complex facial wound and remove her eyeball.

Another case was a 3-year-old patient who was hospitalized with a large laceration on his right cheek, with torn skin exposing muscle and fatty tissue. According to the family, the patient was bitten by a dog when he approached the family dog while it was eating, so the dog turned around and bit him. The patient underwent surgery to suture the complex wound on his face and in his mouth and was injected with rabies serum.

Dr. Le Thi Ha, Head of the Department of Dentistry, Bac Giang General Hospital, said that every year the hospital receives many cases of dog bites that require emergency surgery, in which cases of young children are often attacked by dogs in the head, face, and neck, which is very dangerous and leaves serious consequences.

Dr. Ha also recommends that families with young children should limit their dog ownership. If they do, they must be vaccinated against rabies, kept in a remote area, muzzled, and family members should be reminded to avoid contact or playing with the dog while it is eating or sleeping.

People also need to be vigilant with dogs in all cases, the larger the dog, the higher the level of damage. In case of unfortunate dog bites, the victim needs to be taken to a medical facility for examination and rabies vaccination.
