108 Military Central Hospital has a new 53-year-old director

News from the 108 Central Military Hospital (Hanoi) on the morning of October 6 said that Associate Professor, Dr. Le Huu Song, in charge of the hospital's Director, has just been given a decision to appoint him as the Director of this hospital by General Phan Van Giang, Politburo member and Minister of National Defense.

Colonel Le Huu Song, born in 1970, from Ha Tinh, was the Deputy Director in charge of the 108 Central Military Hospital. He graduated as a doctor from the Military Medical Academy in 1994 and was one of the three best people selected to work at the 108 Central Military Hospital.

In 2004, he successfully defended his doctoral thesis in molecular biology at Eberhard Karls University, Tuebingen (Germany). Nine years later, he was awarded the title of associate professor.

He has held the positions of Head of the Department of Molecular Biology, Director of the Institute of Clinical Infectious Diseases (108 Military Central Hospital); Head of the Department of Infectious Diseases and Tropical Diseases (108 Institute of Clinical Medical Sciences). In October 2014, the Ministry of National Defense appointed Mr. Le Huu Song to the position of Deputy Director of the hospital.

108 Military Central Hospital is the only special-class medical facility in the country that is not directly under the Ministry of Health. In addition, the remaining 5 special-class medical facilities include: Bach Mai, Viet Duc, Thai Nguyen Central, Hue Central and Cho Ray, all under the Ministry of Health.

108 Military Central Hospital is a general and specialized hospital of the military's final line, with a newly invested central complex, considered the smartest and most modern medical examination and treatment building in Vietnam.

Currently, the hospital has thousands of staff. Every day, this medical facility receives more than 5,000 medical examinations and more than 1,600 inpatients.

108 Military Central Hospital is also one of the leading centers for research and application of high technology, having successfully performed many tissue and organ transplant techniques; in particular, it is planning to conduct the first experimental uterus transplant in Vietnam in the next few years.
