Previously, at around 10:00 a.m. on November 15, the hospital admitted an 8-year-old boy from Tinh An Tay Commune (Quang Ngai City) to the emergency room with severe abdominal pain after falling and hitting an iron bar on the school stage.

Here, the doctors admitted the child to the hospital and transferred him to the Intensive Care - Anti-Poison Department for oxygen, emergency ultrasound at the bedside and necessary tests. After that, the child was diagnosed with a grade 4 spleen rupture due to a fall. At the same time, he was transferred to the operating room for emergency surgery.
During the surgery, the patient's abdomen had a lot of bright red blood, and the spleen area continued to bleed heavily, so the doctors clamped the spleen stalk and cut the spleen to save the child's life.
After surgery, the patient was transfused with 2 units of packed red blood cells and 2 units of fresh frozen plasma and transferred to the Intensive Care Unit for care. Currently, the child's health is gradually stabilizing, so he was transferred to the Surgery Department for continued monitoring and treatment.
Doctor CKI Pham Xuan Duy, Head of the Department of Surgery (Quang Ngai Obstetrics and Pediatrics Hospital) recommends that parents and teachers pay attention to their children at home and at school. To ensure the safety of children, in case of a fall or abdominal injury, the child must be quickly taken to a specialized pediatric surgery facility for timely examination and emergency treatment by doctors.
