The subject rode a motorbike from Ho Chi Minh City to Ben Luc district (Long An province), stopped at a gold shop pretending to buy gold and then robbed it, but was surrounded and arrested by militia, the shop owner and local people.

On the afternoon of April 14, Lieutenant Colonel Truong Nhat Minh, Head of Ben Luc District Police (Long An Province) said that he was temporarily detaining Nguyen Huu Thoai (34 years old, residing in Chau Thanh District, Tien Giang Province) for robbery.
Previously, at 11:20 a.m. the same day, Thoai rode a motorbike from Ho Chi Minh City to Ben Luc district and then stopped at Bao Yen gold shop in Ward 8, Ben Luc town, owned by Ms. NTHV (from Quang Ngai).
There, Thoai asked to buy a bracelet of about 3 taels of 24K gold. The gold shop owner took out the gold for Thoai to see and Thoai agreed to buy it. However, immediately after that, Thoai snatched the gold from the shop owner's hand and ran out.
The gold shop owner shouted for help. At that time, Mr. Hieu (a militiaman) was assigned by the Ben Luc town police to go to the area to check the situation at the scrap warehouse. Hearing the shout, he quickly chased after the robber with the people.
Mr. Hieu knocked down the robber and together with the gold shop owner and 3 residents, restrained and arrested him and handed him over to Ben Luc District Police for handling.
The case is being investigated by the Ben Luc District Police Department.
According to Lieutenant Colonel Truong Nhat Minh, this incident also shows that the movement of the entire people to protect national security in the area is increasingly spreading. The people's raising of spirit and proactively fighting against crime will contribute to timely detecting and arresting criminals, maintaining security and order in the area.
