Biometrics is a new technology for most customers and biometrics installation in banking transactions is only done with a chip-embedded citizen ID card via a mobile phone with NFC feature - a short-range wireless connection technology. However, this is also a barrier for some customers because not all mobile devices support NFC technology and there are also customers who have not switched to a chip-embedded citizen ID card.

Many customers' devices do not support reading chips on citizen identification cards, the camera is blurry and takes unclear photos and cannot read information, leading to customers being unable to set up biometrics at home. To overcome the above difficulties, we have deployed support for customers to collect biometrics on the staff's phone devices. Customers can go to transaction points for support or bank staff will also proactively contact and meet customers to provide direct support instructions."
For transactions requiring biometric authentication, in addition to the authentication method using Smart/SMS OTP code, customers must compare the actual facial image of the person performing the transaction to ensure it matches the data stored in the chip of the chip-embedded CCCD. Adding an additional layer of biometric security will help minimize fraudulent impersonation, device access control, or information theft to appropriate assets.
