From now until 2030, Ha Tinh will focus on effectively conserving wildlife, especially endangered, rare species prioritized for protection, and migratory species; no more wildlife species will become extinct...
The People's Committee of Ha Tinh province has just issued an action plan on biodiversity conservation until 2030, with a vision to 2050 in the province.
Through the camera trap system, Vu Quang National Park has recorded 58 rare animal species, including 5 critically endangered species endemic to the Truong Son range. Pictured is the Asian elephant.
Accordingly, the general goal of the plan is to increase the area of natural ecosystems that are protected, restored and ensure integrity and connectivity; biodiversity is preserved and used sustainably to contribute to socio-economic development in the direction of a green economy, proactively adapting to climate change, in accordance with the Provincial Planning.
Specific goals by 2030 - Expand and improve the effectiveness of the management of the system of natural heritages and nature reserves to ensure the achievement of basic targets such as: nature reserves are well managed and protected, sustainable, and preserve high biodiversity; 100% of nature reserves and natural heritages are assessed as effectively managed; the forest coverage rate of the whole province remains stable at over 52%; at least 20% of the degraded natural ecosystem area (if any) is restored. - Effectively conserve wildlife, especially endangered, rare and precious species prioritized for protection, and migratory species; no more wildlife species become extinct; the population status of some endangered, rare and precious species prioritized for protection is improved. Continue to effectively manage and control invasive alien species; prevent and combat invasive alien species. - Manage and control biological species and genetically modified products; wild genetic resources and rare, indigenous plant and animal varieties are preserved and conserved to achieve the goal of collecting and preserving at least about 1,000 genetic resources. - The value of biodiversity and ecosystem services is assessed, maintained and enhanced through sustainable use, limiting negative impacts on biodiversity; nature-based solutions are deployed and applied in socio-economic development, natural disaster prevention, climate change adaptation; promoting access and fair and reasonable sharing of benefits from the use of genetic resources. Vision to 2050 Important natural ecosystems, endangered species, and rare and precious genetic resources are restored and effectively conserved; biodiversity and ecosystem services are fully valued, used sustainably, and bring essential benefits to all people, contributing to ensuring ecological security, proactively responding to climate change, and sustainable development. |
The plan sets out key contents and tasks such as: Strengthening biodiversity conservation and restoration; conserving and restoring endangered wildlife species, especially endangered, precious, rare animals prioritized for protection, and migratory species; strengthening conservation, exploitation and development of genetic resources, managing access to genetic resources, sharing benefits and protecting traditional knowledge about genetic resources; assessing and promoting the benefits of biodiversity for sustainable development, natural disaster prevention and climate change adaptation; Controlling activities that have negative impacts on biodiversity.
Solutions focused on implementation include: perfecting policies, laws, management institutions, strengthening law enforcement capacity on biodiversity; raising awareness and consciousness about nature and biodiversity conservation; promoting the integration and implementation of biodiversity conservation requirements in policy making and public investment projects; promoting scientific research, development, transfer and application of advanced technology in biodiversity conservation and sustainable use; ensuring financial resources for biodiversity conservation; strengthening domestic and international cooperation on biodiversity conservation and sustainable use...
