VIMC Board of Directors inspects the progress of Lach Huyen berth 3 and 4 project, Hai Phong - Vietnam National Shipping Lines - VIMC

On the morning of January 23, 2025, General Director Nguyen Canh Tinh and many leaders of Vietnam National Shipping Lines (VIMC) visited and inspected the construction progress of container terminals No. 3 and No. 4 at Lach Huyen port area, Hai Phong city.

The Prime Minister has approved the project to invest in the construction of container terminals No. 3 and No. 4 of Hai Phong International Gateway Port (at Lach Huyen Port area) and assigned Hai Phong Port Joint Stock Company as the investor, with the scale of building two container terminals with a total length of 750m, capable of receiving container ships up to 160,000 DWT - equivalent to 14,000 TEUs; a barge terminal to receive ships and barges with a capacity of 3,000 DWT - equivalent to 160 TEUs; along with synchronous technical infrastructure items, meeting the cargo throughput of 1.35 million TEUs/year. The remaining construction items are being urgently deployed to complete and put into operation in the first quarter of 2025. The project management board said that it has thoroughly instilled the spirit from top to bottom that each staff member must make more efforts and determination, working in accordance with the Prime Minister's direction on the implementation of key projects: "Overcoming the sun, overcoming the rain", working "3 shifts, 4 shifts", "through holidays, through Tet", working both Saturday and Sunday to speed up the construction progress of the project, striving to complete ahead of schedule for each project item and the entire project.

General Director Nguyen Canh Tinh sent his regards and commended the staff.

General Director Nguyen Canh Tinh visited and praised the staff at Lach Huyen wharf 3,4 for their work with the highest spirit and emphasized the importance of the project in improving the cargo handling capacity of Lach Huyen port, contributing to promoting the socio-economic development of the Northern region and the whole country. The General Director also requested the relevant units to continue to coordinate closely, ensure labor safety, construction quality and complete the project on schedule.

It is expected that when the project is completed and put into operation, it will contribute to reducing maritime transport costs, thereby reducing logistics costs for businesses, increasing the competitiveness of Vietnam's import and export goods, creating momentum for the development of the deep-water port system and logistics activities in the Northern region, and being an important lever for the socio-economic development of Hai Phong city. At the same time, this is also a project that contributes to affirming VIMC's position in the maritime sector in Vietnam.
