After stopping the weight loss medication for about half a month, she had a stomachache and vomited. She went to the pharmacy to buy stomach medicine to take but it was ineffective. She was admitted to the emergency room at Le Van Thinh Hospital, Thu Duc City (HCMC) in a state of fatigue and exhaustion. The doctor diagnosed her with moderate to severe acute pancreatitis and increased triglycerides in her blood 100 times higher than normal.

Nguyen Viet Quynh Thu, Head of the Department of Nutrition and Dietetics, FV Hospital, said that the key to scientific weight loss includes two main factors: balanced nutrition and proper exercise. "Using unknown, unlicensed weight loss drugs often causes weight loss by causing dehydration, diarrhea, vomiting, and loss of micronutrients... These symptoms cause users to lose weight, but it is dehydration and muscle loss, not fat loss. These drugs often cause side effects that affect liver and kidney function and cause electrolyte disturbances," Dr. Thu shared.
According to Dr. Thu, there are even patients who come to beauty salons to lose weight, and after returning home, they are given weight loss drugs of unknown origin. The drugs are put in a bag without packaging or labels, which can potentially cause harm to the liver and kidneys, affecting health.

Nutritionist Nguyen Thu Ha, Nam Sai Gon International General Hospital, said that cutting out starch completely to lose weight is a mistake. When applying starch cutting to lose weight, it is necessary to understand that a lower carbohydrate diet is not a carbohydrate-free diet.

In addition, consuming starch in the evening in sufficient amounts is also very helpful for cases at risk of hypoglycemia at night," Dr. Ha analyzed.
