In 2023, the Vung Ang Port Customs Branch (Ky Anh Town, Ha Tinh) was assigned the highest budget revenue target ever at VND 10,408 billion.

Import and export activities at Vung Ang port

Mr. Dao Chi Thanh - Head of Vung Ang Port Customs Branch said: "After the severe impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, import-export businesses in the area continue to face many difficulties due to the unstable market. In particular, the steel market has always had fluctuating prices, causing many difficulties in the production and business activities of Hung Nghiep Formosa Ha Tinh Iron and Steel Company Limited".

According to the construction plan from the beginning of the year, Formosa Ha Tinh Steel Corporation is expected to pay import and export taxes of more than VND 9,000 billion in 2023. However, up to now, this enterprise has only paid more than VND 4,600 billion.

It is estimated that in 2023, Formosa Ha Tinh Steel Corporation will pay import and export taxes of more than VND 6,300 billion (70% of the estimate the company built at the beginning of the year). The decrease in revenue from Formosa directly affects the completion of the target of the Vung Ang Port Customs Branch.

Thereby, Vung Ang Port Customs Branch collected VND 5,045 billion for the state budget, reaching 48.5% of the 2023 estimate and decreasing by 27.9% over the same period in 2022.

The budget collection results have not been as expected, so the Vung Ang Port Customs Branch is strictly implementing the direction of leaders at all levels, overcoming difficulties, and implementing drastic and synchronous solutions to increase the state budget revenue. The unit focuses on administrative procedure reform and customs modernization; strengthening and tightening administrative discipline and order; attracting businesses to open declarations.

Since the beginning of the year, the Vung Ang Port Customs Branch has attracted 8 more enterprises to open declarations; bringing the total number of enterprises conducting import-export activities through the unit to 54 enterprises.

Up to this point, we have paid import tax of about 300 billion VND".

To ensure the completion of the 2023 state budget revenue estimate, currently, the Vung Ang Port Customs Branch is maximally facilitating import and export activities, promptly resolving arising problems related to customs procedures, tax policies, tax management, tax collection and payment, tax refund and tax exemption regimes, etc.

Vung Ang Port Customs Branch is creating maximum convenience for import and export activities.

Implementing many synchronous and drastic solutions, the unit is striving to achieve the highest budget collection results, completing the assigned target for 2023" - Mr. Dao Chi Thanh - Head of the Vung Ang Port Customs Branch said.
