On September 25, Kien Hai District Medical Center (Kien Giang) reported on a suspected food poisoning case at Kien Hai Secondary and High School.
Accordingly, on September 23 and 25, the locality recorded 23 students hospitalized after eating food at the school cafeteria. Of these, 8 were transferred to Kien Giang Obstetrics and Pediatrics Hospital for treatment, the rest were monitored at Kien Hai District Medical Center.
The children's health is now stable. Local authorities and relevant units have taken food samples from the school canteen for testing to clarify the cause.
Previously, the People's Committee of Kien Hai district received information that many students at Kien Hai District Secondary and High School ate chicken rice, rice with ribs, vermicelli and fish cake bread at the school cafeteria and then showed symptoms of vomiting, fever and diarrhea. On September 24, 4 students were transferred to the Maternity and Pediatrics Hospital by their families.
After examination, doctors at Kien Giang Obstetrics and Pediatrics Hospital diagnosed the students with intestinal infections and administered IV fluids, medication, and symptomatic treatment.
