15 years of "Thuan Phuoc Love"

In early 2010, the number of poor households in Thuan Phuoc ward increased when the new poverty standard was applied. In that situation, after many meetings, the ward Party Committee agreed to implement the "Thuan Phuoc Affection" art program, assigning the People's Committee and the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the ward to coordinate with the Political Department of Military Region 5, the Art Troupe of Military Region 5, associations, schools, and religious organizations in the area to implement it.

Thereby, integrating the mobilization of units, businesses, organizations, and philanthropists to support and contribute to the “For the Poor” Fund to take care of poverty reduction and social security work in the locality. The first time the program was organized, it was successful with a donation of nearly 80 million VND. And since then, every year, the “Thuan Phuoc Affection” art program has become a meaningful spiritual food for philanthropists and local people.

By 2017, the program "Thuan Phuoc Love" was renewed, not stopping at once a year but being organized regularly throughout the year with many themes at each time. The opening theme was "Spring of Love - Tet of Love" to send gifts of love to those in difficult circumstances on the occasion of Tet. Next were the themes "Melody of May", "May Remembering Uncle Ho", "Love Songs of May" on the occasion of Uncle Ho's birthday on May 19. On the full moon of Mid-Autumn Festival, there was a cultural night with the themes "Full Moon Festival Night", "Moon of Love" to send love to poor and orphaned students...

The themes vary from time to time, but in general, they are all imbued with the profound humanitarian spirit and affection of the people of Thuan Phuoc. Thanks to that, dozens of dilapidated houses were promptly built and repaired; hundreds of poor households received means of livelihood to escape poverty; thousands of students had more conditions to confidently go to school.

According to Chairman of Thuan Phuoc Ward People's Committee Le Tu Anh, after 15 years of implementation, the program "Thuan Phuoc Affection" has mobilized more than 4.5 billion VND to support the "For the Poor" Fund, thereby creating a stable fund source to support new construction and house repair; support livelihoods, medical examination and treatment; support education promotion, difficult circumstances... for people in the area.

Last year, Mr. Nguyen Quy (group 28) was a poor household, without a stable job, supporting a sick wife and young children. The Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the ward used the “For the Poor” Fund to support a motorbike worth 10 million VND, helping him have the means to drive a motorbike taxi and transport goods to increase his income. Thanks to that, the family economy gradually improved, and his children were able to go to school. Similarly, Mr. Tran Binh (group 51) was supported with a motorbike to work as a delivery man, having a stable income, gradually escaping poverty.

According to the leaders of Thuan Phuoc ward, the success of the program is thanks to the consensus of all classes of people, union members, members, sectors, religious organizations; the enthusiastic support and companionship of units and enterprises inside and outside the ward. Especially the openness and transparency in receiving, managing the revenue and expenditure of the "For the Poor" Fund and the work of reviewing and granting support to the right people, in the right circumstances, and at the right level, has won the trust of the people, creating favorable conditions for the mobilization work in the following years.

Standing Vice Chairman of Hai Chau District People's Committee Truong Thanh Dung emphasized that after 15 years of construction and development, the "Thuan Phuoc Affection" program has become a bright spot in social security care. This is a creative way to mobilize and mobilize resources from the community to support disadvantaged and vulnerable people, creating a widespread humanitarian movement, becoming a proud brand of the cadres and people of Thuan Phuoc ward.
