Don't dare go to anyone's house because of infertility
Present at the Hanoi Andrology and Infertility Hospital at the ceremony announcing the decision to donate 15 cases of 100% free IVF on June 23, the family of Mr. Phan Dinh Thang (34 years old, Ha Tinh) and Ms. B Nuoch Thi Tron (36 years old) could not hide their emotions when talking about their 12-year journey of searching for their beloved child.
Ms. Tron shared that she is a Co Tu ethnic group, from Quang Nam, and Mr. Thang is a Kinh ethnic group. In 2012, after a long time of getting to know each other, they decided to get married. After only 1 year, Ms. Tron got pregnant naturally, but that joy ended when she unfortunately had a miscarriage in the 8th week.
"After that, my husband and I saved up for a whole year to have enough money to go to Hanoi for a check-up. At that time, the doctors said there was no problem. Thinking that, my husband and I felt reassured and went home to continue waiting for good news. However, during that time, the more we waited and waited, the more we did not see our beloved child come," Ms. Tron recounted.
Ms. Tron said that because they live in a mountainous commune in Huong Son district, Ha Tinh, the people still have many bad customs. Many people in the commune said that she and her husband were haunted by ghosts and demons, so they could not have children. Hearing that, Ms. Tron and her husband invited a shaman to perform a ceremony, but they spent a lot of money but still did not see any good news.
Ms. Tron said that at that time, wherever someone told her about this doctor or that medicine, she and her husband tried it, but for 12 long years, nothing changed.
"My husband and I go to the fields in the morning to work for others, and when we come home at night we don't dare go anywhere. My husband said, let's not go anywhere, and then people will say this and that, which makes us even sadder," said Ms. Tron.
Recently, by chance, a relative of hers was also infertile and successfully underwent in vitro fertilization (IVF), and that was when Ms. Tron learned about this method. Determined to go to Hanoi again, Ms. Tron and her husband went to the Hanoi Andrology and Infertility Hospital for examination.
Seeing the difficult family circumstances, the hospital guided them to complete the application to participate in the free IVF program.
Luck came to them when they became one of 15 families receiving support this year.
Mr. Thang shared that he could not imagine that such luck would come to his family. Until receiving the decision to support, seeing other infertile couples succeed, he and his wife continued to light up the hope of finding their beloved child.
"Sweet fruit" of the couple carrying the disease gene
Also present at the program, Mr. Dung (33 years old) and Ms. Ngoc (24 years old), from Lac Thuy district, Hoa Binh province, are now filled with happiness after welcoming their baby.
Sharing about his 6-year journey to find a child, Mr. Dung said that he and his wife got married in 2018. In 5 years, the couple got pregnant naturally 3 times. However, all 3 times they were unable to keep the pregnancy.
Ms. Ngoc shared that there were times when she wanted to stop because she was afraid that she would lose her child again, not be able to see her child, and not have the fate to be a mother.

"All three times I couldn't hear my baby cry. The longest pregnancy was 2 months and then my baby left me. I fell into depression, blaming myself for not being able to keep the baby. Both my husband and I were in despair at that time," Ngoc recalled.
In 2022, Ms. Ngoc decided to try again and went to the hospital for a check-up. At that time, the doctor said that both husband and wife carried the thalassemia gene, which was also the reason why she had three miscarriages.
Mr. Dung said that at that time, the doctor advised that there was only a 25% chance of having a child without the gene and that IVF combined with embryo screening could be used to create a healthy embryo. At that time, a hope was lit for the couple, but the cost was too high, and the couple did not have enough money.
Luckily, in 2023, they received a free IVF support package and successfully got pregnant for the first time. In August 2023, the couple welcomed their baby.
"My child is almost 1 year old, but I cannot forget the happiness when I heard him cry when he was born. Infertile couples should keep hoping, put their faith in modern medicine, if the baby doesn't come, we will find him," Mr. Dung advised.
