On December 12, US President Joe Biden commented that Israel is starting to lose international support after launching a counterattack on Gaza that killed thousands of Palestinian civilians.

Speaking at a campaign fundraising event in Washington, Mr. Biden stated: "They (Israel) are starting to lose that support."
President Biden also said that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu needs to change the current hard-line government.
According to the US leader, the Israeli government “does not want a two-state solution”, the direction that Washington has called for after the Hamas-Israel conflict broke out.
In another development, on the same day, Mr. Netanyahu admitted that although the US supports Israel in dealing with Hamas and rescuing hostages, there are differences of opinion between the two sides on how to manage Gaza after the end of hostilities.
Prime Minister Netanyahu declared that Gaza would not belong to Hamas or Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas' Fatah movement; affirmed that Israel would not be allowed to repeat the mistake of the 1993 Oslo Accords, which granted Palestinians limited autonomy in the West Bank and Gaza.
