Pepper prices today, February 18, 2025, in the domestic market are stable in key localities, trading from 157,000 - 160,000 VND/kg.

Specifically, pepper price today in Gia Lai is at 157,000 VND/kg.

Pepper prices today in the provinces of Dong Nai (157,000 VND/kg); Dak Lak (160,000 VND/kg); Dak Nong (160,000 VND/kg); Ba Ria - Vung Tau (158,000 VND/kg) and Binh Phuoc (157,000 VND/kg).

Thus, pepper prices today continue to remain stable in key localities. The highest pepper price is at 160,000 VND/kg. Although pepper prices are still at a high level, the decline in the last days of last week has made experts say that the domestic market will not be able to improve this week.

The harvest in the provinces has been going on for more than half a month, and the new crop has not been able to reach the market. Buyers are still waiting for more new crop to be released to push pepper prices down further.

According to pepper growers, at this time last year, pepper gardens were already in full harvest, but this year, in mid-February, they only spread nets and prepared for harvest. The reason is that during the growth of the plants, the fruit encountered unfavorable weather. At the time of treatment for the plants to flower, the prolonged harsh sunlight and drought caused the flowers to fall, and the fruit set rate was very low. Pepper growers also had to handle and fertilize carefully. Therefore, the pepper ripened late and was harvested 1 month later.

In Ba Ria - Vung Tau province, although the yield of early-harvested tea decreased compared to previous years due to unfavorable weather, thanks to the high pepper price, gardeners were excited.

In Chau Duc district, the pepper crop failure due to the weather has caused the gardens to drastically reduce productivity. The 1.5ha pepper garden of Mr. Ho Van Thu's family (Loc Hoa hamlet, Binh Gia commune) is entering harvest.

Since the beginning of the week, his family has harvested 500 kg of pepper. According to Mr. Thu, this year's pepper crop, his family is expected to only harvest about 3.5 tons of pepper/1.5 hectares, down nearly half compared to previous years. This year's pepper harvest is slower, and the output is also down half compared to previous years due to unfavorable weather.

Mr. Nguyen Hanh, Chairman of the Farmers' Association of Binh Gia Commune, Chau Duc District, said that the pepper growing area in the commune is decreasing, now only about 50 hectares compared to before. This year's pepper harvest is slower, the output is also reduced by half compared to previous years due to unfavorable weather.

In the international market, at the end of the most recent trading session, according to the International Pepper Community (IPC), black and white pepper prices in the Indonesian market moved in the same direction, both increasing by 0.49%, respectively standing at 7,294 USD/ton (equivalent to 186,581 VND/kg) and 10,068 USD/ton (equivalent to 257,540 VND/kg).

For the Brazilian market, the price of ASTA 570 black pepper traded at the end of the week at 6,800 USD/ton.

In the Malaysian market, ASTA black and white pepper prices remained unchanged, anchored at USD 9,000/ton and USD 11,600/ton, respectively.

In Vietnam, the export price of black pepper remained stable, with the 500 g/l grade trading at 6,500 USD/ton (equivalent to 166,400 VND/kg); the 550 g/l grade at 6,650 USD/ton (equivalent to 170,240 VND/kg). Similarly, the export price of white pepper is at 9,550 USD/ton (equivalent to 244,480 VND/kg).
