Developing high-tech agriculture (HAG) is a major policy, identified in Resolution No. 58-NQ/TW dated August 5, 2020 of the Politburo on building and developing Thanh Hoa province to 2030, with a vision to 2045. Therefore, the agricultural sector and localities in the province create favorable conditions to encourage organizations, individuals, and cooperatives to invest in HAG production, smart agriculture associated with the development of key agricultural products of the province to increase value per unit of cultivated area.

Many "sweet fruits"
Every year, NNUDCNC production in localities in the province has contributed to creating a large volume of agricultural products, the area of high-tech production linkage is increasing. The value that people get per unit area is on average 120 million VND/ha, many NNUDCNC areas reach from 300 to more than 2 billion VND/ha/year. Mr. Vu Quang Trung, Head of the Thanh Hoa Department of Cultivation and Plant Protection, said: "In the field of cultivation, enterprises, cooperatives and people have invested in developing more than 200 hectares of production area in greenhouses and net houses. Of which, Tho Xuan district has the largest area in the province with 55.5 hectares, Nga Son district 35 hectares... Most of the greenhouse area is used by people to produce vegetables, cantaloupes, melons, and high-tech flowers. Most of the models apply smart production processes, with automatic irrigation control systems, temperature and humidity sensors, semi-automatic roof opening and closing... Many models generate revenue of 2.5 - 3 billion VND/ha/year, with profits of 300 - 700 million VND/ha/year. Typically, production models in greenhouses rotating 3 crops of cantaloupes and 1 crop of flowers using high technology achieve a total income of 3 - 3.5 billion VND/ha/year, Profit reached more than 1 billion VND/ha/year in districts of Nga Son, Hoang Hoa, Tho Xuan, Yen Dinh, Thieu Hoa...
In recent times, people in Hoang Hoa, Quang Xuong, Nga Son, Hau Loc districts, Nghi Son town... have actively converted from improved extensive shrimp farming to intensive white-leg shrimp farming in covered net houses, applying high technology. Up to now, the whole province has developed 930 hectares of intensive white-leg shrimp farming area, applying high technology. Every year, the output of intensive white-leg shrimp in the whole province reaches 11,300 tons, with a production value of more than 1,500 billion VND. In particular, the model of intensive white-leg shrimp farming applying high technology, farming in greenhouses and net houses gives a yield of 20 - 35 tons/ha/crop, farming 3 - 4 crops/year, giving a profit of 300 - 600 million VND/ha/crop. According to people's assessment, white-leg shrimp farming has a productivity about 16 times higher than traditional shrimp farming. In addition, many concentrated shrimp farms in the province invest in closed chains, apply modern machinery, control diseases associated with environmental protection for economic efficiency twice as high as traditional farming.
Currently, the whole province has accumulated and concentrated nearly 19,500 hectares of land for large-scale agricultural development, applying high technology in the field of cultivation; 680 hectares for large-scale aquaculture development, in the direction of high technology. The production of NNUDCNC in the province has initially reaped "sweet fruits", creating high value for agricultural products, contributing an important proportion to the growth rate of the entire agricultural sector in the first 6 months of 2024, reaching 3.4%.
Promote, create breakthrough
According to Plan No. 260/KH-UBND dated November 7, 2022 of the Provincial People's Committee on developing smart, high-tech agriculture; forming specialized areas for large-scale, high-quality commodity production and developing value chains from production to processing and consumption in Thanh Hoa province in the period of 2022-2030, the whole province strives to have a large-scale area that meets high-tech standards by 2025 of 4,100 hectares, of which the production area applying digital and smart technology will reach 1,000 hectares or more, with a value of VND 500 million/ha/year or more. The large-scale area, in the direction of high technology, will reach 49,700 hectares, with a value of VND 400 million/ha/year or more. The area for developing large-scale aquaculture production that meets high-tech standards will be 210 hectares, with a production value of VND 3 billion/ha/year or more. The high-tech white-leg shrimp farming model in Hoang Yen commune (Hoang Hoa) brings high economic efficiency.
To achieve that result, the agricultural sector and localities are actively informing and disseminating specific, typical and advanced models in developing NNUDCNC, thereby creating motivation for enterprises, cooperatives and producers to boldly invest and develop production. At the same time, focusing on research, application and transfer of science and technology on varieties, plant protection, seed quality testing, fertilizers, biotechnology, good agricultural practice production processes; preservation and processing of agricultural products, high-tech and smart agricultural production. Promoting crop production, livestock and aquaculture according to VietGAP and GlobalGAP organic standards domestically and internationally... to improve product quality and value. In addition, the agricultural sector encourages people to invest in the application of information technology in management and production in building codes for growing and farming areas, ensuring conditions and creating opportunities for the province's agricultural products to expand export and domestic markets.
According to the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, NNUDCNC is a breakthrough factor in increasing the added value of agricultural production; a typical example of the application of science and technology; linking production to processing and consumption; changing production forms, changing the mindset of agricultural production to agricultural economics. Every year, the department coordinates with relevant sectors to organize fairs and conferences connecting supply and demand, combining the display and introduction of safe agricultural and food products, to promote the connection of production establishments with consumption establishments inside and outside the province. Along with that, the agricultural sector effectively implements the mechanisms and policies of the Central and the province that have been issued and are still in effect in the period of 2021-2025, with a vision to 2030, to encourage and motivate the development of NNUDCNC production in the province associated with the development of key agricultural products of the province.
