Attending the reception, on the Vietnamese side were Director of the Department of International Cooperation Nguyen Phuong Hoa; Director of the Vietnam National Tourism Administration Nguyen Trung Khanh, Deputy Director of the Vietnam Cultural Center in Laos Nguyen Phuc Sinh, Counselor of the Vietnamese Embassy in Laos Nguyen Thanh Huy. On the Lao side, there were Director of the Department of Planning and International Cooperation Phengchanh Phengmuang, Director of the Department of Tourism Promotion Phonemaly Inthaphome and representatives of a number of agencies and units of both sides.

Lao Minister of Information, Culture and Tourism Suansavanh Viyaketh held a bilateral meeting with Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Nguyen Van Hung.

Delighted to welcome Minister Nguyen Van Hung and the delegation of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Vietnam, Minister Suansavanh Viyaketh was moved to say that Vietnam always pays attention to and helps Laos in all fields. He expressed his deep gratitude to Minister Nguyen Van Hung for visiting Laos and attending the 27th ASEAN Tourism Ministers' Meeting - the most important event during the ASEAN Chairmanship Year 2024 in Laos. Minister Suansavanh Viyaketh affirmed that the participation, initiatives and active contributions of Minister Nguyen Van Hung at the Ministerial meetings, and the effective support of the Vietnamese delegation at ATF 2024 are a great source of encouragement, creating special trust for Laos when taking on the role of chairing ATF 2024.

Congratulating the Lao Ministry of Information, Culture and Tourism on successfully organizing ATF 2024 with a series of diverse activities, creating a major highlight in ASEAN tourism cooperation in 2024, Minister Nguyen Van Hung believes that with the successful start of ATF 2024 and the ASEAN Tourism Ministers' Meeting and related conferences, ASEAN Year 2024 will be successfully hosted by Laos with many outstanding results and thereby further enhancing Laos' position in the region and in the international arena.

Discussing cultural cooperation, the Lao Minister of Information, Culture and Tourism thanked the Vietnamese Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism for successfully organizing the Lao Cultural Week in Vietnam in 2023, creating a stronger bond between the people of the two countries. The Lao side affirmed and wished to continue promoting cultural exchange and cooperation with Vietnam.

Regarding the Laos-Vietnam Friendship Park project in Vientiane, Minister Nguyen Van Hung said that on the occasion of meeting with the Tourism Ministers of ASEAN countries with Lao Prime Minister Sonexay Siphandone, Minister Nguyen Van Hung reported the main features of this important cultural project. At the working session at the Central Office of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party - the agency in charge of Laos coordinating with Vietnam to implement the project, Minister Nguyen Van Hung and Chief of Office Thongsalith Mangnomek agreed on the contents, and affirmed that they would speed up the progress to inaugurate it in early 2025, making the Vietnam-Laos Friendship Park a symbol of the relationship between the two countries. For his part, in order to actively coordinate to implement the Laos-Vietnam Friendship Park project, Minister Suansavanh Viyaketh affirmed that he will send Lao experts to join the Vietnamese art council in selecting the most beautiful statue, worthy of the great friendship and special solidarity between Vietnam and Laos, to be placed in the park.

Regarding the recognition and ranking of the Truong Son Trail historical site in Laos as a Lao National Monument, Minister Suansavanh Viyaketh said that the Lao side has been actively working with relevant agencies, collecting documents to send to the Vietnamese side to complete the scientific dossier of the Truong Son Trail - Ho Chi Minh Trail historical site in Laos. Thanking the Lao side for this cooperation, Minister Nguyen Van Hung suggested that the Lao side continue to coordinate with the Vietnamese side to build a systematic and scientific dossier to consider and decide to recognize the Truong Son Trail - Ho Chi Minh Trail historical site in Laos as a Lao National Monument, creating a new mark on the Vietnam-Laos relationship.

In the field of tourism, Minister Nguyen Van Hung and Minister Suansavanh Viyaketh were pleased with the results of bilateral tourism cooperation, with the number of visitors increasing. Recognizing that the two countries still have much potential for tourism cooperation and attracting international tourists, Minister Nguyen Van Hung said that the Vietnamese Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism plans to open a Vietnam Tourism Promotion Office in Vientiane under the Vietnam Cultural Center in Laos. This office is tasked with not only promoting and connecting to attract tourists to Vietnam, but will also coordinate with Laos to connect and utilize common strengths to attract more tourists to both countries. Vietnam will send experts and travel businesses to the Vietnam Tourism Promotion Office in Laos to coordinate in implementing tourism promotion activities. Vietnam hopes that Laos will support and create favorable conditions for this plan in the coming time.

Sharing about the fact that Lao tourists love to choose Vietnam as a destination to enjoy sea tourism, Minister Suanesavanh Vignaket expressed his support and high agreement on the initiative to establish a Vietnam Tourism Promotion Office in Laos and suggested that the Vietnamese side soon provide information and detailed plans for the Lao side to coordinate implementation to contribute to promoting tourism cooperation and increasing tourist attraction to the two countries.

Appreciating the effective cooperation results in recent times, the two Ministers expressed their determination to further strengthen cooperation between the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Vietnam and the Ministry of Information, Culture and Tourism of Laos, actively contributing to tightening the special friendship between the Party, State and People of Vietnam and Laos.
