Border of flowers

Visiting the Vietnam - Laos - Cambodia border landmark in Kon Tum province at the end of the year, people were truly "overwhelmed" by the brilliant yellow color of wild sunflowers along the steps leading up to the landmark, a wild flower with the pure beauty and strong vitality typical of the majestic Central Highlands mountains and forests. It is known that the wild sunflowers along the road leading up to the Three-border Landmark are planted and cared for by the youth force of Ngoc Hoi district, Kon Tum province. Enthusiastically posing for photos, excitement clearly visible on his smiling face, Mr. Nguyen Bich Hai (Hanoi) shared: "Reading the news, I heard the phrase "a rooster crows, three countries can hear" so I felt very curious, many times wanting to experience it. Having cherished the intention for a long time, it was not until today that my group of friends and I took a trip to experience this Central Highlands land. Indeed, when we set foot on the border junction, my group of friends and I felt sacred. We were fascinated by the simple, rustic beauty of the hills and mountains, of the endless wild sunflowers typical of the mountains and forests here. In addition to wild sunflowers, there is also a friendship garden planted by the Kon Tum Provincial Border Guard Command, the Rattanakiri Provincial Police Department, Cambodia and Company 541, under the Attapeu Provincial Military Command, Laos since 2018. The lush garden includes species such as: Rosewood, Blue Star, Lagerstroemia, Acacia, Magnolia, Champa... Up to now, the units have planted more than 12,000 trees in this area.

Green border, peace, friendship

At the end of August, the Huu Nghi International Border Gate (Lang Son province) planted a large banyan tree. It was personally planted by General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong and Chinese Ambassador to Vietnam Hung Ba during their visit to the Huu Nghi International Border Gate. The banyan tree is located in a solemn, prominent position in the Huu Nghi International Border Gate, nearly 100m from the Vietnam - China border, on the right side of National Highway 1A, opposite milestone 1116 on the left side of the road. The banyan tree is sturdy, lush, and green... General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong and Ambassador Hung Ba lovingly held a shovel to cultivate and perform the ritual of watering the sacred banyan tree on the Vietnam - China border. The General Secretary instructed units and people to take care of and preserve the banyan tree and consider it a symbol of the spirit of friendship, friendliness, and peace... Recently, the "Huu Nghi Banyan Tree" has become a new highlight at the border gate. Many delegations of visitors here have requested to visit and take souvenir photos with the tree, next to the traditional "check-in" point of national sovereignty milestone 1116. The tree planting and flower street movement is not only a cultural beauty, but also contributes to protecting the border and affirming territorial sovereignty. This is also a practical activity to help ethnic people eliminate hunger, reduce poverty, develop the economy, contribute to building a strong border, protect the environment, and increase forest cover in the border area. "Planting flowers on the border route has great significance, has humanistic values, enhances education, propaganda to raise awareness of environmental protection for border guards, soldiers and people in the border area", said Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Van Hoi - Head of Song Trang Border Guard Station, Long An province. Colonel Huynh Van Dong, Political Commissar of the Kien Giang Provincial Border Guard, said that in the coming time, units need to proactively coordinate closely with local Party committees and authorities where they are stationed to synchronously implement solutions for planting, caring for and protecting trees. Propagating and mobilizing people in border areas to actively respond to tree planting activities in hamlets, along rural roads, coastal areas, borders, on islands, vacant lands, bare hills, etc. Actively planting, managing, protecting and caring for protective forests, upstream forests, planting trees at agencies, units, localities in border areas, coastal areas and stationed areas are activities that contribute to environmental protection, natural disaster mitigation, and beautifying the landscape and environment of the unit. Planting trees is also to protect the border, to affirm territorial sovereignty and is also a practical activity to help ethnic minorities eliminate hunger, reduce poverty, develop the economy, making an important contribution to building a strong border for the people.
