Vietnam Airlines is the only representative of Vietnam ranked in the Top 25 Safest Airlines in the world in 2025 by Airline Ratings - the leading prestigious organization in aviation safety assessment.
Vietnam Airlines ranked 22nd out of 25 safest airlines in the world. Also on the list are other prestigious airlines such as Emirates, Qatar Airways, All Nippon Airways…
The rankings are assessed by Airline Ratings based on many strict criteria, including serious incidents in the past two years, aircraft age, fleet size, incident rate, profitability, IOSA certification, pilot training skills, etc.
This achievement is a testament to Vietnam Airlines' continuous efforts in meeting strict international standards, constantly innovating and professionalizing passenger transport operations.
Ms. Sharon Petersen, CEO of AirlineRatings, assessed that Vietnam Airlines has not had any serious accidents or incidents in the past 27 years. The airline currently operates a fleet of 100 modern aircraft with an average age of less than 10 years and has maintained the IOSA operational safety certification continuously since 2006.
In addition, Vietnam's aviation industry has also made great strides in improving safety with improved airport systems, upgraded navigation systems and more stringent procedures. "All of these factors have helped Vietnam Airlines firmly maintain its position in the Top 25," said Ms. Sharon Petersen.
A representative of Vietnam Airlines affirmed that for the airline in particular and the aviation industry in general, safety is always the number 1 priority. The airline is the first airline in Vietnam to be granted the IOSA operational safety certificate by the International Air Transport Association (IATA) and has continuously maintained this certificate since 2006.
Vietnam Airlines has also successfully built a safety management system (SMS) since 2007, meeting the highest international safety standards and approved by the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam as a model for other domestic aviation units to build and complete safety documents.
In 2023, Vietnam Airlines was selected by IATA as the host airline to host the World Safety and Operations Conference. IATA's choice affirms the influence, capacity, and prestige of the National Airline in particular and the civil aviation industry in general.
Also at this conference, Vietnam Airlines was the pioneer airline to sign the IATA Safety Culture Charter, actively participating in building, implementing and promoting the safety culture of the world and Vietnam aviation industry.
Previously in 2022, Vietnam Airlines also passed the strict safety assessment standards of the US Federal Aviation Administration, becoming the first and only Vietnamese airline to operate regular flights to this country.
Thanks to its continuous efforts in ensuring operational safety, the airline achieved an Innovative Safety Culture Rating of 6.2/7, reflecting the airline's strong commitment to building and maintaining a safe, professional, and productive working environment.
