Vietnam Airlines "joins hands" with Yuanzhilv to bring nearly 300,000 Chinese tourists to Vietnam

(NLDO)- Vietnam Airlines has signed a memorandum of understanding with GuangZhou Yuanzhilv Technology Company under the witness of Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh.


At the program introducing Vietnamese culture and tourism organized by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism in Chongqing City, China on November 8, Vietnam Airlines signed a memorandum of understanding on bilateral cooperation with GuangZhou Yuanzhilv Technology Tourism Company (Guangzhou Yuanzhilv Science and Technology Tourism Co., Ltd.).

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh witnessed the signing of a memorandum of cooperation between Vietnam Airlines and the tourism company GuangZhou Yuanzhilv Technology.

The memorandum of understanding between the two businesses on launching a campaign to bring 299,000 visitors to Vietnam from 2024-2030 took place under the witness of Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh.

Vietnam Airlines said the memorandum of understanding marks the commitment of both sides to attract nearly 300,000 tourists from China to Vietnam in the 2024-2030 period, while contributing to promoting the image of Vietnam as an attractive destination for Chinese tourists.

According to the memorandum of understanding, Vietnam Airlines and GuangZhou Yuanzhilv Technology agreed to cooperate closely in many areas such as aviation services, marketing, exchange of experiences in tourism development and new trends in destinations between the two countries. The two sides will also cooperate in organizing events in China to promote Vietnam as an attractive tourist destination in the region.

During the program to introduce Vietnamese culture and tourism in Chongqing, Vietnamese tourism and transportation corporations and businesses and Chinese partners signed and exchanged 7 memorandums of understanding to promote two-way tourist attraction and exchange in the coming time.

Speaking at the event, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh said that in the coming time, China will remain Vietnam's largest tourism market. The Prime Minister called on cultural and tourism enterprises to promote cooperation, connect the two countries in culture and tourism, and implement specific and practical cooperation programs and projects to contribute to promoting cultural and tourism cooperation between Vietnam and China to develop further in the spirit of the 20 words "close connection; harmonious coordination; extensive cooperation; inclusive, comprehensive; effective and appropriate".

Information from the event shows that before the COVID-19 pandemic, China was always the largest source market for visitors, accounting for about 30% of the total number of international visitors to Vietnam. In 2019, Vietnam welcomed more than 5.8 million Chinese tourists. Vietnam was also among the top 5 foreign markets sending the most visitors to China, with 7.9 million visitors.

In 2024, the Chinese market began to recover after a long period of being affected by COVID-19. According to statistics from the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism, the number of Chinese tourists to Vietnam in the first 9 months of the year reached 2.7 million, an increase of 141.4% compared to the same period last year.

Currently, there are an average of 330 flights per week between Vietnam and China; tourism routes between Vietnam and China are increasingly vibrant, products are constantly being added with a variety of destinations, affordable prices, meeting many market segments.

Vietnam Airlines alone transported 483,000 passengers to China in the first 9 months of the year, 2.4 times higher than the same period in 2023. The airline is currently operating 5 regular routes to China, including routes from Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City to major cities such as Guangzhou, Beijing, and Shanghai.

In the coming time, Vietnam Airlines plans to continue to increase the frequency of regular flights, open new routes and increase the use of wide-body aircraft to supplement capacity in the context of good market demand growth. At the same time, the airline will coordinate with agencies and partners of the two countries to develop programs to promote new destinations in Vietnam for Chinese tourists, and introduce potential destinations in China to the Vietnamese people.
