Italy is known as a country with advanced textile technology and high quality products, while Vietnam is a country with advantages in abundant labor resources, competitive costs and a spirit of continuous innovation. The potential for cooperation between the two countries is huge, however, businesses on both sides also face many challenges such as differences in business culture, quality requirements and strict international standards. The workshop provided insight into opportunities and challenges, helping businesses of the two countries find effective and sustainable cooperation solutions. In his opening speech at the workshop, Mr. Marco Della Seta - Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Italy to Vietnam - emphasized: Textiles and garments are one of the strategic cooperation areas between Vietnam and Italy, making an important contribution to bilateral trade turnover. In 2023, the value of Italy's textile and garment exports to Vietnam reached 309 million USD (accounting for 17.3% of Italy's total exports), while imports from Vietnam reached 335 million USD. The two sides continuously have initiatives and cooperation projects to transfer technology, standardize production, especially in the aspect of sustainable production to protect the environment.

Mr. Laurent Franciosi - Head of International Market Development, CDP, shared: CDP always actively supports cooperation between businesses of the two sides. From October 2023, the online business connection platform CDP Business Matching has added Vietnamese language, with the goal of bringing the platform closer to Vietnamese businesses and promoting exchanges and interactions between the Vietnamese and Italian markets. In her speech representing the Vietnam Federation of Commerce and Industry (VCCI), Ms. Tran Thi Lan Anh - General Secretary of VCCI, informed: The cooperative relationship between Vietnam and Italy has improved in recent years. Currently, Italy is Vietnam's fourth largest trading partner in the EU and Vietnam is Italy's largest trading partner in ASEAN. The EU's launch of the Sustainable Development and Circular Textile Strategy, as well as the "fabric forward" rule in the Vietnam - EU Free Trade Agreement, requires Vietnamese textile and garment enterprises to master new regulations and information, while equipping themselves with technology and constantly improving quality to meet export requirements to this market.
