The 5th meeting of the Russia-Vietnam Cooperation Committee in the field of education, science and technology summarized, evaluated and reviewed the cooperation contents, and determined the cooperation direction for the coming period.
According to the VNA correspondent in the Russian Federation, within the framework of the 25th Session of the Russia-Vietnam Intergovernmental Committee on Trade, Economic, Scientific and Technical Cooperation, on September 10, at the Moscow National Energy Research University, the 5th Session of the Russia-Vietnam Cooperation Committee in the field of education, science and technology took place to summarize, evaluate and review the cooperation contents, and determine the direction of cooperation in the coming period.
Attending the event, on the Vietnamese side were Deputy Minister of Science and Technology Le Xuan Dinh, Chairman of the Vietnam Sub-Committee, Deputy Minister of Education and Training Nguyen Van Phuc, General Director of the Vietnam-Russia Tropical Center Dang Hong Trien, along with representatives of the Academy, the Embassy of Vietnam in the Russian Federation and a number of Vietnamese universities.
The delegation of the Russian Subcommittee attending the meeting included Deputy Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation Konstantin Ilyich Mogilevsky - Chairman of the Russian Subcommittee, Secretary of State, Deputy Minister of General Education of the Russian Federation Korneev Andrey Alekseevich and representatives of many scientific and educational organizations and universities of the Russian Federation.
Speaking at the meeting, Deputy Minister Le Xuan Dinh emphasized that along with the development of the comprehensive strategic partnership between Vietnam and the Russian Federation, cooperation between the two countries in the fields of education, science and technology is increasingly developing in both breadth and depth. This is especially important in the context that 2024 is the 10th anniversary of the signing of the Agreement on strategic partnership in the fields of education, science and technology.
Deputy Minister Le Xuan Dinh said that over the past 10 years, the 4 Committee Meetings held have brought about encouraging results in cooperation in education, science and technology between the two countries, and he expected that this 5th Meeting would create a new impetus for the development of cooperation between the two countries. The two sides will discuss and agree on specific directions and contents to deepen the strategic content of cooperation in education, science and technology and innovation.
The Deputy Minister of Science and Technology of Vietnam affirmed that in order to make science, technology and innovation a pillar of economic development, Vietnam needs close cooperation in education, science and technology with countries around the world, especially with the Russian Federation, a country that has a comprehensive strategic partnership with Vietnam.
For his part, Deputy Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation Konstantin Mogilevsky emphasized that Russia always pays attention to and promotes strong cooperation in science, technology and education with Vietnam and has achieved many positive results in recent times.
The two sides are actively cooperating in marine research, and it is expected that this year they will complete the work of unifying the intergovernmental agreement on transferring the research vessel "Professor Gagarinsky" to Vietnam to conduct joint research in Vietnamese waters.
In addition, many meaningful activities have been organized such as the establishment of the Association of Russian-Vietnamese Technical Universities (December 2023), the 2nd Forum of Rectors of Russian and Vietnamese Universities...
Regarding national human resource training coordination, the Russian Federation continues to grant Vietnam a training quota of 1,000 places/year and has reached an agreement on the number of direct recruitment of candidates according to the government's quota for the 2025/2026 school year.
During the meeting, representatives of the two countries discussed a range of issues, including launching a series of new competitive research projects with equal funding.
The two sides discussed and agreed to continue to actively implement cooperation contents, continue to organize selections to co-fund joint research cooperation projects, organize the implementation of commitments achieved in the field of education and training; continue to closely coordinate to complete negotiations on the Agreement between the two Governments on the establishment and operation of the Pushkin Center for signing in 2024, continue to organize joint events, conferences and seminars in the two countries in the fields of scientific, technological, educational and cultural cooperation...
The two sides signed a series of documents as the foundation for bilateral cooperation in the fields of education, science and technology, including the Memorandum of Understanding on joining the Russian-Vietnamese Network of Technical Universities, the Memorandum of Understanding on establishing the Russian-Vietnamese Network of Economic Universities, the Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation between the University of Finance under the Government of the Russian Federation and the University of Economics of Ho Chi Minh City, and the Agreement on the academic exchange program between the University of Finance under the Government of the Russian Federation and the University of Economics of Ho Chi Minh City./.
Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha and Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Dmitry Chernyshenko agreed to work together to propose solutions to improve the effectiveness of bilateral cooperation.
