This morning (April 20), the young talent of Thanh Hoa cycling team, Nguyen Van Lam, excellently won the men's event in round 1 of the Short-distance Mountain Bike Race - Federation Cup 2023.
This is the first time the tournament has been organized by the Vietnam Cycling and Motor Sports Federation in Hoa Binh City with the aim of creating a playground for the best mountain bike athletes from provinces, cities and industries across the country, and members of the national cycling team to compete, thereby improving their expertise and achievements.
The tournament brings together 21 of the best male and 21 female athletes to compete. The athletes compete in the 420m individual distance for men and women. The competition format of the tournament is also quite attractive when the athletes are drawn and paired to compete from the qualifying round. The winning athlete continues to enter the next round and meets stronger opponents until the final match to compete for the highest position.
Thanh Hoa cycling team has 3 athletes participating in the tournament: Nguyen Van Lam, Pham Minh Dat and Tran Thi Mai. All 3 faces of Thanh Hoa are currently members of the national cycling team. Through the rounds, athlete Nguyen Van Lam excellently overcame 2 "tough" opponents of the host team Hoa Binh, Dinh Van Linh and Bui Van Nhat, to win the men's event.
Also in the men's category, athlete Pham Minh Dat ranked 4th. The remaining athlete from Thanh Hoa, Tran Thi Mai, ranked 5th in the women's category. This is still considered a commendable achievement for these two athletes.
On April 23, the first round of the Short-distance Mountain Bike Championship - Federation Cup 2023 will be held in Phu Tho and this is an opportunity for 3 athletes of the Thanh Hoa cycling team to continue to achieve results. This is also an opportunity for 3 athletes Nguyen Van Lam, Pham Minh Dat and Tran Thi Mai to continue training to prepare for the upcoming important tournaments.
Thanh Hoa cycling team has 2 athletes participating in SEA Games 32 in Cambodia, Nguyen Van Lam and Pham Minh Dat, competing in mountain biking.
