Pilot operation of Hanoi tourist train

On December 28, a survey train connecting Hanoi - Thai Nguyen with the goal of exploiting and developing tourism was carried out under the coordination of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the Department of Transport of Thai Nguyen province and Vietnam Railways Corporation.

More than 120 delegates, including leaders of departments, branches, and localities of Thai Nguyen province, as well as transportation, travel, and service businesses of Thai Nguyen and Hanoi, participated in the experience and contributed ideas for the development of Thai Nguyen tourism and railway tourism.

Mr. Nguyen Van Ngoc, Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Thai Nguyen, said that after 2 months of having the idea of ​​implementing the railway route connecting Hanoi - Thai Nguyen, the survey train connected through many stations with 4 stops: Pho Yen, Luu Xa, Thai Nguyen and Quan Trieu stations. The train was deployed quickly and successfully thanks to the direction of all levels, sectors of Thai Nguyen province and related units; especially the coordination and support of Vietnam Railways Corporation. Thai Nguyen is a province with many advantages in terms of transportation, fully connecting with provinces and cities in the northern region of Vietnam, especially connecting with Hanoi. The province has been exploiting well the roads, airways, waterways and the traditional railway route will be focused on for exploitation in the coming time.

The Hanoi - Thai Nguyen railway line has historically played an important role in serving the tasks of economic, social development, security and national defense. Currently, this railway line still retains its value. In the context of Thai Nguyen province promoting investment promotion and attraction activities, the provincial leaders always prioritize many resources to develop tourism in a sustainable direction to become a key economic sector. Mr. Nguyen Van Ngoc hopes that the implementation of the Hanoi - Thai Nguyen railway line in the coming time will contribute to better serving the social security needs of the people, strengthening connectivity for Thai Nguyen to develop its economy and society, and especially creating new products and services to contribute to the development of Thai Nguyen tourism.

When the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Thai Nguyen raised the issue of coordinating the exploitation of the Hanoi - Thai Nguyen railway line, it received the consensus of the provincial leaders, Vietnam Railway Corporation as well as businesses, travel agencies and tourism units. This railway line has many conveniences for the travel distance of about 80km, travel time of about 2 hours. At the same time, this railway line connects many tourist destinations as well as tourism activities in particular and economic and social development activities in Thai Nguyen province in general...

Mr. Nguyen Chinh Nam, Deputy General Director of Vietnam Railways Corporation, shared: Vietnam Railways welcomes the idea and determination of Thai Nguyen province in reopening and developing the Hanoi - Thai Nguyen train route. Before the COVID-19 pandemic, the Hanoi - Thai Nguyen railway route mainly served the people's livelihood, helping people in disadvantaged areas to travel conveniently. At that time, the train was a social security train. Exploiting the Hanoi - Thai Nguyen tourist train route is a new idea, promising to contribute a lot to the tourism development of Thai Nguyen as well as contributing to further improving Vietnam Railways services.

During the survey program of the Hanoi - Thai Nguyen train route, the survey team experienced many services on the train such as: Enjoying Thai Nguyen tea, Hanoi specialty cakes, listening to Then singing and Tinh lute, experiencing OCOP products and local agricultural products at the arrival stations... After that, the team went to the community tourism site of Tan Cuong specialty tea area, held a discussion to contribute ideas for perfecting the idea of ​​exploiting the train route associated with promoting Tea culture and developing Thai Nguyen tourism.../.
