Mykhailo Fedorov, Ukraine's Deputy Prime Minister for Innovation, Education, Science and Technology, posted a video on April 5 showing a large number of Kiev's UAVs.
"Powerful UAVs are Ukraine's competitive advantage over Russia. UAVs change the course of war and save soldiers' lives. During the 9 months of the UNITED24 project, 3,200 UAVs were ordered, worth $100 million. Ukraine's UAV doctrine has completely changed. More than 7,000 soldiers have been trained to operate these weapons," he said.
According to The Kyiv Independent , the UAV army is a joint project between the Ukrainian Digital Transformation Ministry and the United24 organization. The project helps provide drones to Ukrainian soldiers, as well as train them how to use them.

In the year-long war between Russia and Ukraine, UAVs have become one of the important weapons.
Last month, an adviser to Ukraine's interior minister, Anton Gerashchenko, called on the parties to provide thousands of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) to counter Russia.
“They are the super weapons here. We will win faster and with less damage if we have tens of thousands, hundreds of thousands of reconnaissance and attack UAVs,” he said.
"The supply of weapons, the supply of ammunition, the training of the Ukrainian army is the basis for liberating our territories and stopping the war. Ukraine needs combat power in the air, which has been discussed a lot recently. And as I often say, this is a war of UAVs because they are the super weapons here," the Ukrainian official emphasized.
UAVs are much cheaper than tanks and allow Ukraine to attack Russian forces at long range without direct combat, helping to save the lives of Ukrainian soldiers.
In addition to domestically produced UAVs, Ukraine currently has several types of UAVs in its arsenal, such as the TB2 (Türkiye), Switchblade, and Phoenix Ghost, which were provided by the US. On the other hand, Ukraine also has the DJI Mavic 3 UAV, a small commercial device, mainly used for the purpose of locating attacks from Russia.
In February, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported that Chief of the General Staff Valeriy Zaluzhnyi had approved the creation of the Ukrainian military’s first suicide drone strike unit. This is also believed to be the first suicide drone unit established by a regular army in the world.
Since the start of the special military operation launched by Russia, drones have played an irreplaceable role in the combat posture of the Ukrainian army.
Ukrainian UAVs played a crucial role in slowing down the Russian army's advance in the early stages of the war, especially since Russia's ability to win quickly depended heavily on the mobility and power of its tanks and heavy infantry fighting vehicles.
Not only did Ukrainian artillery and anti-tank weapons fire at Russian military positions, Ukrainian UAVs also carried out many attack missions and directly destroyed many Russian weapons and military equipment.
