With an initial loan of 200 million VND from the People's Credit Fund (TDND) of Quynh Minh commune (Quynh Phu district, Thai Binh province), after 10 years of investing in pig farming development, Ms. Dao Thi Tho's family, Thuong Xa village, Quynh Minh commune, has had an income of 2 billion VND/year.
After many years of working hard in the fields and raising a few chickens and ducks, Ms. Tho and her husband still could not remove their names from the local poor household list.
Seeing some families successfully developing the VAC model and having a comfortable life, Ms. Tho discussed with her husband about converting over 9,000m2 of low-lying fields to develop concentrated livestock farming.
Like some families when they first started, Ms. Tho not only lacked experience in raising livestock but more importantly, lacked capital.
Near her home is the Quynh Minh People's Credit Fund, so Ms. Tho boldly approached them to request funding for her family's pig farming development project and was excited to receive support from the Fund. With the initial loan of 200 million VND, they invested in building 2 rows of semi-industrial barns and bought more than 100 breeding pigs.
They also actively participate in training courses on science and technology transfer organized by organizations, visit and learn from some successful models to apply technical measures to develop their family's pig herd.
Thanks to proper care, vaccination, and keeping the barn clean, the pigs are disease-free and growing well.
The large-scale pig farm of Ms. Dao Thi Tho's family in Quynh Minh commune (Quynh Phu district, Thai Binh province) brings in an income of 2 billion VND/year.
Ms. Tho shared: When borrowing money to invest, my husband and I were very worried, afraid that failure would lead to debt, making us even poorer; but the credit officers often visited and encouraged us, and my husband and I felt secure in taking care of the pigs. All beginnings are difficult, but the first batch of pigs sold at a good price, the family was very happy, boldly borrowed additional capital to expand the barn and increase the number of pigs to 200.
The farm was developing stably when African swine fever broke out in many places for 2 years (2022, 2023). Although the disease prevention work was always ensured according to the instructions, the family's pigs still got sick and had to be destroyed, causing tens of millions of dong in damage.
But fortunately, the Quynh Minh People's Credit Fund still accompanies, providing additional capital for the family to repair the barn and raise a new batch of pigs. Up to now, the Fund has trusted the family to borrow up to 1.7 billion VND, the loan application is simple, and the quick disbursement has created favorable conditions for the family to invest in developing the farm.
The family is currently raising 600 pigs and nearly 10 sows. To protect the pigs, the family strictly follows biosafety farming procedures, regularly cleans and disinfects barns with chemicals, lime powder, and fully vaccinates...
Therefore, this year, her family's pigs are disease-free and healthy. She keeps all the sows that give birth to litters to raise, saving on the cost of buying breeds while ensuring the quality of the breeds. After deducting expenses, this year, Ms. Tho's family earned 2 billion VND from pig farming.
Ms. Nguyen Thanh Thuy, Director of the Quynh Minh People's Credit Fund (Quynh Phu district, Thai Binh province) said: Ms. Tho's family's project is very feasible, so the Fund has been with the family since the model was implemented; when the family encountered difficulties due to the epidemic, the Fund still accompanied them so that they could promptly restore the herd.
This is one of the Fund's loyal customers for many years, always paying interest and principal on time. We are very happy that the Fund's capital has contributed to helping Ms. Tho's family escape poverty and become a local billionaire. When a new customer comes to borrow capital to develop the economy, we introduce them to visit Ms. Tho's family model to learn, Ms. Tho is very enthusiastic in sharing her experience.
