On the occasion of the 234th anniversary of the death of the great physician Hai Thuong Lan Ong Le Huu Trac, associated with a series of activities honoring World Cultural Celebrities and receiving the certificate recognizing the Le Huu Trac Tomb and Memorial House as a special national relic, people of Huong Son district made a 300kg banh chung to offer to the tomb of Hai Thuong Lan Ong Le Huu Trac.
The banh chung symbolizes the 300th birthday of the Great Physician (1724 - 2024). To carry out this task, 10 people participated in the preparation, wrapping, and cooking stages of the cake for 3 days.

Mr. Pham Quang Thiet (31 years old, residing in Son Bang commune, Huong Son district), who also participated in wrapping the cake, said that the ingredients to make this cake include 270kg of sticky rice; 30kg of green beans. In addition, to wrap the cake, it is necessary to use over 600 dong leaves and other ingredients.
“We spend more than a day preparing steps such as washing dong leaves and soaking sticky rice. The time to wrap the cake is one day, then cook it for 30 hours. The preparation work is done with technical assurance so that the cake is evenly cooked,” said Mr. Thiet.

From the morning of February 9, when the cake was wrapped, people used a crane to carry the cake to cook for 30 hours. The ceremony to present and receive the 300kg banh chung is expected to be held at 1:00 p.m. on February 10, 2025 (ie January 13, At Ty year).
The cake will be brought from Hai Thuong eco-zone and then join the procession of Huong Son district to offer to the Memorial Area and the Great Physician's Temple in Quang Diem commune, Huong Son district.
After offering the cake at the procession and ceremony, the cake will be moved to the front yard of the Hai Thuong Tomb and Monument area for people and visitors from all over to enjoy.
