Thua Thien - Hue Provincial authorities and people held an incense offering ceremony to commemorate Princess Huyen Tran at the Huyen Tran Temple Festival on February 18.
Huyen Tran Temple Festival is organized by the Department of Culture and Sports of Thua Thien Hue province at Huyen Tran Cultural Center, at the foot of Ngu Phong mountain, An Tay ward, Hue city.

At the beginning of the festival, the image of Princess Huyen Tran obeying the orders of King Tran Nhan Tong and King Tran Anh Tong to marry King Che Man of Champa more than 700 years ago was recreated. In response, the King of Champa offered Chau O and Chau Ly to the Tran Dynasty. After King Che Man passed away, Princess Huyen Tran returned to Dai Viet and became a nun at Trau Son Mountain, present-day Bac Ninh Province.
After the performance, in traditional long dress and turban, Mr. Phan Thanh Hai, Director of the Department of Culture and Sports of Thua Thien Hue province, together with the elders of An Cuu village, offered incense to commemorate Princess Huyen Tran, who had great contributions in expanding the territory to the South. Thousands of tourists and locals also flocked to the temple to offer incense and participate in folk games.

Mr. Phan Thanh Hai said that Princess Huyen Tran (1287-1340) and her father King Tran Nhan Tong (1258-1308) were famous people associated with the formation of the land of Thuan Hoa - Phu Xuan - Thua Thien Hue.
"Obeying her father and then her brother, Emperor Tran Anh Tong, the princess put aside her personal feelings, wiped away her tears and boarded the boat to follow her husband to Champa, establishing peace with neighboring countries. From her wedding gift, Dai Viet gained two more regions, including the land of Hue (Thuan Hoa)," said Mr. Hai.
Princess Huyen Tran Festival is held on the day of her death to show gratitude and admiration for the person who had great contributions in opening up the country.
