Tuan Tran said he had a difficult childhood, selling lottery tickets with his mother at the age of three, and was lucky enough to work with Tran Thanh when he grew up, starring in a series of hundred billion dong movies.

The actor attracted attention during the Tet Giap Thin film season when he played the main role in Mai - a project with a budget of nearly 50 billion VND directed and produced by Tran Thanh. At the age of 32, Tuan Tran became a new star of the big screen with two hundred billion VND works, including Bo Gia - which once achieved a record revenue of more than 400 billion VND.

Tuan Tran said that looking back at his current position, he is grateful for his difficult childhood. Born in Saigon to working-class parents, the actor and his family lived together in a house with a small attic, "it was difficult to sleep with legs stretched out". At the age of three, little Tran Duy Tuan (his real name) toddled along with his mother selling lottery tickets because there was no one to look after him at home. "I am grateful to my parents for loving my siblings and me. No matter how poor the family was, my mother never let her children suffer," the actor said.
For him, the greatest luck is having a family as his spiritual support, cheering him on every step of his career. When he told his son about his dream of becoming an actor, his mother said: "You just do it, I will support you no matter what." The first opportunity came to him when he won a beauty contest for students while studying business administration at Saigon University. With a height of 1.86 m, Tuan Tran became a photo model and received invitations to film castings.
The first door to acting opened when Tuan Tran participated in the TV series "That Lavender Season" (2014). The nine-episode work scored points for its romantic setting and attractive cast. The actor received many compliments for Khai Minh - the villain of the film, but for him, the greatest joy of all was "showing off to his mother that he was on TV", bringing home his first paycheck for his family.
In the days that followed, Tuan Tran continued to look for opportunities to shine. He was not afraid to follow television crews, trying out supporting roles, gradually becoming the second male lead and then the male lead. In 2016, Tuan Tran received a lot of attention when he co-starred with Hari Won in the MV Anh Cu Di Di - which became a hit with 46 million views. Since then, the actor has increased his filming schedule, at one point appearing in four television projects but all in supporting roles.
While on a "plowing" streak, Tuan Tran and his management company decided to stop accepting TV series to improve himself. At that time, many people criticized his bland acting, "being shameless on TV but leaving little impression". The actor had to mortgage his car to have money to learn soft skills such as foreign languages, singing, dancing, and focus on refreshing his image. "In return, I feel that I have improved significantly, not being out of place with good colleagues, overcoming some pronunciation errors, and acting with more depth", Tuan Tran said.
Meeting Tran Thanh and participating in Bo Gia (2021) is a milestone in Tuan Tran's acting career . When filming the web-drama of the same name in 2020, he only appeared in a supporting role. Tran Thanh highly appreciated Tuan Tran's acting, promoting him to the main role in the film version. The role of Quan - the son who quarrels with his father - surprised with many emotional scenes. Tuan Tran's acting helps viewers imagine the pain of the character when father and son disagree and cannot reconcile. In the scene where Quan kneels to beg relatives when his father encounters an incident, his acting pushes the tragedy to its climax.
The Godfather broke a series of box office records, making Tuan Tran a bright face in a period when Vietnamese films lacked potential young actors. At the end of 2021, he unexpectedly won the Best Actor award at the 22nd Vietnam Film Festival. "At that time, I held my phone and watched it and was overwhelmed, not daring to believe the result. The first person to call me was my mother. She cried a lot because of happiness," he said.
Two years later, Tuan Tran took on a larger film project - Dat rung phuong Nam directed by Nguyen Quang Dung, inspired by the novel of the same name. His role as Ut Luc Lam was given more screen time than the TV version, in a supporting role.
In the version performed by artist Trung Dan in 1997, this character is just a vagabond but has a generous personality. Tuan Tran's role is portrayed as An's older brother, helping the boy learn how to make a living after his mother suddenly passed away. On the contrary, An's sincerity touches Ut Luc Lam - an orphan since childhood, showing him the value of family love. Dat rung phuong nam became the third highest-grossing Vietnamese film of the year with 140 billion VND, the second film of Tuan Tran to surpass the hundred billion VND revenue mark.
After 10 years in the profession, Tuan Tran has been involved in many controversies. When participating in Dat Rung Phuong Nam and Mai , Tuan Tran was suspected of having a relationship with Tran Thanh - the project investor. Tran Thanh said that the decision to invite his junior to the film was director Quang Dung's. For the new film, he chose the actors two years ago - when the project was first announced, and assessed that Tuan Tran was diligent in his work and did not get discouraged by the director's strict requirements.

Tuan Tran said he was determined to "transform" when playing the role of Duong - a guy who pursues an older woman in Mai . He learned to play the piano and trained his body to be toned to act in a "hot" scene with Phuong Anh Dao.
"Maybe my acting is not good, but I work very seriously. Many people think that I got the role because of my connections and favors, I am also sad. But I tell myself: This will be a good opportunity for everyone to see my ability," he said.
