Located on the right bank of the Len River, the revolutionary countryside of Hung Loc Commune (Hau Loc) is undergoing strong changes today. Because the people here wholeheartedly follow the revolution, during the period when the revolutionary movements of the province had to operate secretly, Hung Loc was chosen as a place to hide and shelter revolutionary cadres and soldiers. In those days, the Tang family used the communal house and church as a secret place for revolutionary cadres and soldiers.

Tang family temple where revolutionary soldiers secretly operated Mr. Tang Van Yen, Mr. Tang Van Duong and Mr. Pham Huu Hoa (grandson of the Tang family) re-read the memoirs of revolutionary soldiers written during their time in Hau Loc.

The asphalt road stretches between the summer-autumn rice fields in the heavy harvest season, taking us to Hung Loc commune - the ATK area during the anti-imperialist era of Hau Loc district. These days, Hung Loc is bustling and joyful in the red of the national flag and the Party flag. The simple Tang family temple is nestled in a small alley in Hung Phu village.

Mr. Tang Van Yen, a member of the Tang Family Committee, is taking the opportunity to clean up the grounds of the Family Temple to welcome the National Day on September 2. In the Family Temple, there are no more leaflets, newspapers, or documents. But there are still traces of the secret tunnel leading to the cemetery and poems and notes of revolutionary cadres and soldiers who used to live here. That is enough to recall stories about the secret activities of revolutionary cadres and soldiers during a special historical period on the land of Hung Loc.

In the church grounds, there is a shrine dedicated to 9 martyrs who are descendants of the family. Of these, 4 died in the resistance war against French colonialism and 5 died in the resistance war against American imperialism. Every time they offer incense to their ancestors, the family members will offer incense to the martyrs. It is a way to show gratitude, build traditional pride and remind descendants to remember the merits and sacrifices of previous generations.

The history of Hau Loc District Party Committee recorded that in September 1941, Ngoc Trao Guerrilla Zone (Thach Thanh) was broken, the French surrounded and arrested revolutionary soldiers and secret agencies of Thanh Hoa Provincial Party Committee. The Provisional Provincial Party Committee Executive Board was mostly revolutionary soldiers who escaped from prison from Dak Lak, Kon Tum and Ngoc Trao Guerrilla Zone, and was assigned by the Central Committee to establish the Provisional Provincial Party Committee from 1942 to 1945. The Provisional Provincial Party Committee Executive Board included comrades Le Tat Dac (Secretary), To Huu, Trinh Ngoc Diet, Dinh Chuong Lan, Hoang Tien Trinh, Hoang Xung Phong, Dang Van Hy... Comrade To Huu was assigned to be the Editor-in-Chief, writing and printing the newspaper "Chasing the Enemies". After the meeting, the Provincial Party Committee decided to move the place of operation and the newspaper printing agency to coastal districts such as Hau Loc, Nga Son, Hoang Hoa to avoid being hunted and captured by the enemy.

In Hau Loc, one of the addresses that hid revolutionary cadres during that period was the Tang Family Temple. This was a secret, safe place for shelter, hiding weapons, documents, and organizing meetings to build the revolutionary movement to save the country. During this period, the descendants of the Tang family and many families in Hung Loc commune did not mind the hardships, contributing wealth and material to help cadres buy food, guns and ammunition. Many people became liaison cadres, bravely carrying and hiding leaflets throughout the markets of Hom, Manh, Vich, Nghe, Choang... to propagate the revolution. Recognizing the contributions of the descendants of the Tang family who contributed worthily to the victory of the August Revolution in 1945, in 1991, the Chairman of the People's Committee of Thanh Hoa province decided to rank the Tang Family Temple as a "Revolutionary historical relic site". In 1997, the Prime Minister awarded the Certificate of Merit to the family of Mr. Tang Khac Trung and his sister Tang Thi Hieu, for upholding the spirit of patriotism, actively helping and protecting the revolution, and contributing worthily to the victory of the August Revolution.

Together with the descendants of the Tang family, during the years of resistance against the French and the Americans to save the country, the Party Committee and the people of Hung Loc commune were always united, striving to overcome difficulties, promoting patriotic movements, labor production, and socio-economic construction; actively contributing human and material resources to support the frontline, contributing to the history of national liberation and unification. In recognition of these contributions, our Party and State awarded the Party Committee and the people of Hung Loc commune the title of Hero of the People's Armed Forces during the resistance war against the Americans.

Revolutionary tradition is the endogenous strength for Hung Loc commune to promote the cause of innovation and homeland construction. From a purely agricultural commune in the coastal area, with internal strength, Hung Loc has "reached the finish line" of advanced NTM in 2020. Currently, the local Party Committee, government and people continue to join hands and unite to bring Hung Loc to the standard of a model NTM commune by 2025.

Walking on the land of Hung Loc today, we feel a new wind, a new strength from the upper and lower villages. The inter-commune and inter-village roads that were once dusty and muddy in the rain are now paved with asphalt and concrete, offices, schools, village cultural houses, intra-field canals... are invested in and built spaciously. Party committees, authorities, the Fatherland Front and political organizations join in the campaign to mobilize people to join hands in making flower roads, creating a green - clean - beautiful rural landscape. All of these paint a picture of an advanced new rural area in Hung Loc with bright colors.

Not only focusing on infrastructure investment and production development, Hung Loc commune also focuses on building cultural and sports facilities to improve people's spiritual life and health. At the same time, renovating and protecting relics, building traditional rooms, contributing to educating patriotism for today's and future generations.

Hung Loc is a locality within the scope of the Diem Pho coastal urban planning of Hau Loc district approved by the Provincial People's Committee. Therefore, along with the model new rural construction, the Party Committee and the communal government need to focus on implementing well the planning management, land management and construction order to meet the requirements of Diem Pho urban development in the future.

Saying goodbye to the revolutionary countryside of Hung Loc when the sun was gradually setting behind the undulating tiled roofs. The students were busily preparing for the first day of school. Joy was evident on every face and eye of the people in this coastal commune.
