According to Xinhua news agency, speaking with US social representatives on the sidelines of a high-level meeting of the United Nations Security Council in New York, Mr. Wang Yi emphasized that China and the US should follow the principles of mutual respect, peaceful coexistence and win-win cooperation.
The two sides need to genuinely respect each other's core interests, strengthen communication, build trust, prevent distracting factors and overcome obstacles so that China-US relations can improve and stabilize.
Meanwhile, on the same day, President Donald Trump expressed his wish that Chinese President Xi Jinping would visit the US, but did not mention a specific time.
President Trump also said he is in talks with China about TikTok as the US seeks to broker a sale of the popular app. When asked about the possibility of Washington negotiating a new trade deal with Beijing, the US leader hinted “maybe.”
This is not the first time in his new term that the White House boss has expressed his desire to meet Chinese President Xi Jinping in the US.
Last December, a month before his inauguration as US President, Mr. Trump invited President Xi Jinping to attend this important ceremony on January 20. However, later, Chinese Vice President Han Zheng was the representative of the Northeast Asian country to attend the inauguration of the 47th White House owner.
