The Washington Post reported that China's Ministry of Public Security said the country has extradited a suspect accused of economic crimes who fled to Morocco.

According to the ministry, the subject surnamed Luo was accused of embezzling millions of yuan (hundreds of thousands of dollars) while serving as the financial director of a company, then fleeing to Morocco. In February 2020, Chinese police initiated an investigation into the case, and in July 2022, the International Criminal Police Organization (Interpol) issued a red notice for the subject. Moroccan police arrested the subject in April this year and the court approved his extradition at the end of October. The subject was extradited to Shanghai on November 18.

China's Ministry of Public Security said this was the first extradition from Morocco to China since the extradition treaty between the two countries took effect in 2021.
