Having cultivated many types of crops but all of them did not bring high economic efficiency, nearly 10 years ago, with the advice of friends, Nguyen Thi Minh Hong (born in 1975, in Nhon Phong commune, An Nhon town, Binh Dinh province) and her husband tried their hand at yellow apricot trees.
Since planting Binh Dinh yellow apricot trees, the economic life of Ms. Nguyen Thi Minh Hong's family (born in 1975, in Nhon Phong commune, An Nhon town) has become better and better, and her children are well cared for and educated.
According to Ms. Hong, because she lives in the "capital" of yellow apricot flowers, she loves the beauty of this flower and also knows how to take basic care of apricot flowers because she often works for surrounding households.
After being encouraged and given detailed instructions on how to care for apricot trees by her friends, she discussed with her husband how to boldly try planting them. At first, the couple bought apricot trees from people around the house and grafted them. Once they were proficient, they gradually increased the scale.
At that time, with the accumulated capital, through the Commune Women's Union, Ms. Hong borrowed an additional 50 million VND from the Town Social Policy Bank, invested in buying a compressor to spray and wash the apricot trees, installed a watering and fertilizing system; and at the same time participated in a bonsai shaping class organized by the Nhon Phong Commune Farmers' Association and the An Nhon Town Vocational Education - Continuing Education Center.

Ms. Hong shared: Taking care of apricot trees requires a lot of effort and meticulousness, so it is difficult all year round. However, thanks to this tree, my husband and I have a stable life and have been able to raise 3 children to become good people.
In addition to my family's garden land, I also rented 4 more acres of rice fields to plant nearly 2,000 apricot pots. In previous years, apricots sold quite well, and the prices were also better. Now, selling is more difficult, but thanks to careful investment, my garden's apricots still sell quite well, earning a profit of about 200 - 300 million VND each year."
According to Ms. Ho Thi Tuyet Ngan, President of the Women's Union of Nhon Phong Commune, An Nhon Town (Binh Dinh Province), Ms. Hong is a diligent learner. In addition to learning from friends, she also seeks out experts to improve her apricot care techniques.
After a period of effort, her family's economic life has increasingly developed. With its role, the Commune Women's Union will continue to support Ms. Hong and many other local women to overcome difficulties and improve their family's economy.
