Binh Duong Club: Waiting for Coach Hoang Anh Tuan's solution
In the last 2 rounds before the V-League was suspended, Binh Duong and HAGL lost all. Binh Duong suffered 2 consecutive defeats against Hanoi FC (0-1) and Nam Dinh (1-4), while HAGL lost to Ha Tinh (0-1) and Hai Phong (0-2).
In the above defeats, these two teams simultaneously had problems. With Binh Duong, many people doubted that coach Hoang Anh Tuan's position was shaky. Public opinion believed that Mr. Tuan had lost control of Binh Duong's dressing room. In particular, the quick 1-4 defeat to Nam Dinh right on Binh Duong's field in round 9 further reinforced that suspicion.
The pressure on coach Hoang Anh Tuan lies in the fact that the leaders of the Southeast team have long been in the habit of being patient with their coaches. Therefore, if Binh Duong continues to lose, it will be difficult for coach Hoang Anh Tuan to stay in his position.
Binh Duong Club (left) has just experienced a series of bad matches in V-League
Therefore, the break of the V-League came at the right time. Firstly, this break stopped Binh Duong's losing streak. Secondly, when the V-League is on break, Mr. Tuan can find a solution to regain control of the Southeast team's dressing room. That could be reinforcements, aiming to ensure that even if 1 or 2 weak positions appear in Binh Duong's squad in the coming days, Coach Hoang Anh Tuan will still have people to avoid those positions playing below their potential.
It could also be mental therapy, helping Binh Duong players feel more comfortable and fight better every time they step on the field. Or Mr. Tuan will apply both therapies, both to supplement the team and to adjust the mentality of his players. A good coach is a coach who knows how to help himself overcome difficulties. Coach Hoang Anh Tuan must quickly demonstrate that, to help Binh Duong play better, and at the same time help himself stay longer at this famous team that is difficult to maintain.
Coach Hoang Anh Tuan has a lot of work to do during the V-League break.
HAGL: What to do to avoid being caught?
With HAGL, their problem is different from the problem happening at Binh Duong. Their recent losing streak does not come from their spirit, nor does it come from the fact that Technical Director (GDKT) Vu Tien Thanh cannot control the dressing room of the mountain town team.
To be fair, compared to many other teams in the V-League, HAGL players are much more united and have a much greater desire to contribute. The problem for HAGL is simply that the team's playing style under Technical Director Vu Tien Thanh has been identified and figured out by opponents. This is something that has been mentioned since the beginning of the season, since HAGL was still at the top of the V-League 2024-2025 table in the first rounds. That is, the fact that HAGL's playing style was soon understood by opponents is something that the Vietnamese football community has seen in advance.
HAGL Club (No. 15) is gradually falling down the rankings.
The reason comes from the habit of commanding troops of Mr. Vu Tien Thanh from the time he was in charge of Saigon FC and Ho Chi Minh City Club, until Mr. Thanh returned to HAGL. That is the habit of preferring counter-attacking play rather than attacking play. Therefore, when facing Mr. Vu Tien Thanh's team, as long as they are not careless in defense, as long as they are not in a hurry to push up the formation to press the field, Mr. Thanh will have difficulty finding a gap in the opponent's defense to exploit.
Another reason is that HAGL's squad is quite thin, which was mentioned before the 2024-2025 season started. Mr. Duc's team has almost said goodbye to all the stars of the generation of Cong Phuong, Van Toan, Tuan Anh, Xuan Truong, Hong Duy, Van Thanh... The remaining players of the next generation, such as Thanh Binh, Quoc Viet, Duc Viet, also left HAGL one after another.
Without “flour” it is difficult to make “paste”, HAGL now wants to play more diversely, wants to play more attractive attacking football but it is also difficult. Therefore, what HAGL needs to do in this period is to strengthen its forces, before finding new features in its own playing style.
The current squad depth of HAGL Club is not really that good.
HAGL is still under a transfer ban from FIFA, due to the dispute with foreign player Martin Dzilah that has not yet come to an end. The V-League's temporary break at this time is the time for HAGL to focus on appealing more effectively to FIFA, before being allowed to strengthen their squad again, then improve their professional skills when the V-League returns in early 2025.
