Over 230 booths participate in the 12th Southern Traditional Cake Festival, 2025

The festival is an annual event that contributes to promoting, introducing and preserving traditional cakes of the South; at the same time, it creates a playground for artisans, connects with domestic and foreign enterprises to expand the market, and promotes the value of traditional cakes of the South. This is also an opportunity to attract tourists to Can Tho.

This year's festival has the theme "Preserving and promoting the value of Southern folk cakes", which is one of the activities to commemorate the Hung Kings' death anniversary (March 10th of the lunar calendar) and celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification Day (April 30, 1975 - April 30, 2025).

The event took place over 5 days, from April 4 to 8, at Binh Thuy District Square with many diverse activities.

Main activities: Opening ceremony at 7:00 p.m. on April 4, broadcast live on Can Tho City Radio and Television; Hung King Commemoration Ceremony and Cake Offering Ceremony; Southern Traditional Cake Competition.

There are also many outstanding activities: lobster pancake promotion, the largest banh chung cake promotion in the Mekong Delta, a parade of traditional Vietnamese costumes (Viet dress) from Hung King Temple to the Festival space, booths promoting folk cakes, regional specialties, folk cake making performances and for visitors to experience, art programs serving visitors; bonsai contest...

This year, the Festival has more than 230 booths from 18 provinces and cities across the country, divided into 4 main areas: Traditional cake space, Regional specialty space, Culinary space and Ornamental flower display space.

Miss Vietnam 2024 Nguyen Ngoc Kieu Duy is the image representative of the Festival. Designer Nguyen Minh Cong accompanies as the inspiration for Traditional Cakes through fashion collections made from cakes.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Ngoc Diep, Vice Chairman of Can Tho City People's Committee, Head of the Organizing Committee of the Hung Kings' Commemoration Day 2025 and the 12th Southern Traditional Cake Festival 2025, informed: "In order to create conditions for many artisans to participate in the Festival, to create more types of traditional cakes and new cuisine, this year the Organizing Committee has directed to reduce 25% of booth rental fees compared to 2024. At the same time, we also established many subcommittees to assist and secure to ensure security and order, food hygiene and safety, environmental sanitation, trading at the listed price; improve cultural and civilized tourism behavior to create a good impression for people and tourists participating in the festival".

In addition, this year's Organizing Committee also cooperated with businesses to stimulate tourism. The reduction is from 10-25% in accommodation, travel, transportation, and tourist attractions.
