Mr. Dinh Van Dung's household in Xuan 2 area, Dong Son commune was excited to receive buffaloes in the project.
The project of breeding female buffaloes in Dong Son commune is one of three communes of Tan Son district registered to implement the project of breeding female buffaloes. Comrade Ha Thanh Giap - Chairman of Dong Son Commune People's Committee said: "We built the model based on the actual needs of the people and the economic and natural conditions of the locality. People who are suitable for any animal or crop can register so that they can benefit and make good use of the State's policies. Accordingly, the group of households of the Community Group proposed to be allowed to raise female buffalo for reproduction. After discussing and voting for participating households, the commune developed a plan to raise female buffalo for reproduction and it was approved. Currently, 26 households have received 26 female buffalo for reproduction for 6 poor households, 8 near-poor households, 7 households that have just escaped poverty, 3 experienced households, 1 household with good economic production, living in Mit 1 and Xuan 2 areas. The households raise animals by the method of confinement combined with managed grazing. The project helps to create jobs for at least 26 rural workers; 26 households benefit, improve the quality of life of the people, and increase the source of income. Income contributes to poverty reduction and stabilizing the lives of people in Khu Mit 1 and Xuan 2 in the commune. It is expected that 100% of households participating in the project will escape poverty after the project ends."
In mid-2024, the Sind crossbred cow breeding cooperative in Vinh Tien commune received 83 Sind crossbred cows. The project has allocated to 34 poor households, 7 near-poor households, 6 households that have escaped poverty, 11 households that have escaped near-poverty and 25 households with experience in raising cows. Each cow costs nearly 20 million VND; of which the State supports 90%, the remaining 10% is the people's counterpart capital. Before receiving the cows, the households prepared adequate barns to ensure breeding conditions; were trained in techniques, measures for raising, caring for, preventing diseases, processing and storing food for the cows. To date, 6 cows have given birth to 6 calves.
Mr. and Mrs. Ha Van Bac's household in Mang 1 area, Dong Son commune received a Sind crossbred cow worth nearly 20 million VND from the State.
Tan Son district has 17 communes, 172 villages, ethnic minorities account for 82.5%, mainly depend on agriculture, natural conditions are not very favorable, the level of education is not uniform, production practices are still backward... so the poor households among ethnic minorities in Tan Son district currently account for a very high proportion. With the motto "all ethnic groups are equal, united, respect and help each other to develop together", in recent years, Tan Son district has actively and effectively implemented policies to care for the material and spiritual life of ethnic minorities. Also from the program's capital, Tan Son district has allocated over 20.4 billion VND to implement 45 projects in 17/17 communes in the district. Including 20 cow projects, 8 buffalo projects, 3 combined buffalo and cow projects, 1 goat project, 12 machine projects, 1 tea project; including: 325 buffaloes, 579 cows, 210 goats, 141 tillage machines, 60 lawn mowers, 5 threshing machines, 1 pump and 18.5 hectares of tea.
Production development support projects have helped poor and near-poor households in the area gradually transform their economic models, create jobs, increase income for households, and contribute to sustainable poverty reduction. Households participating in the project are guided to apply technical processes for caring for and preventing diseases for livestock, and counterpart households build barns to ensure hygienic confinement. Communes develop projects and proactively purchase livestock breeds suitable to the production level and needs of each poor household. At the same time, groups of households participating in the livestock development support project are trained in techniques for caring for and preventing diseases for livestock.
Comrade Tran Khac Thang - Vice Chairman of the District People's Committee said: "The district has focused on directing agencies, units, and communes to closely follow the regulations of the Central Government and the instructions of the province, proactively advising and promptly implementing projects and sub-projects under the National Target Program to support the people, ethnic minorities, poor households, near-poor households, and newly escaped-poverty households. In the process of directing and implementing, attention has been paid to integrating resources to support the implementation of different policies from the National Target Programs to work together, create positive changes, increase people's access to basic social services, have more conditions to develop production, solve employment, improve life, impact poverty reduction and effectively implement the poverty reduction target of the whole district. In addition to supporting production, in poverty reduction work, the District People's Committee also supports the elimination of homeless shelters and dilapidated houses; supports vocational training and job search; supports medical care, medical examination and treatment; supports clean water. activities, environmental sanitation; electricity bill support...
Funding from national target programs provides additional motivation to help poor, near-poor, and newly escaped-poverty households, especially ethnic minority households, develop production and increase income.
