The film is an adaptation of the novel The Life and Passion of Dodin-Bouffant, Gourmet (1924), set in the French countryside in 1885. The plot revolves around the love story between chef Eugénie (Juliette Binoche) and Dodin (Benoît Magimel) - a culinary expert with a passion for creating beautiful and delicious dishes.
During their 20 years of working together, love gradually blossomed between Eugénie and Dodin, but the female chef was not ready for marriage. To win the chef's heart, the young man decided to go into the kitchen and cook for his lover for the first time.
Tran Nu Yen Khe, 55 years old, graduated in interior design from the private school École Camondo, one of the most prestigious art schools in France.
The artist was nominated for Best Designer at the 2015 Asian Film Awards in Hong Kong. Yen Khe's lacquer painting Borderline (2018) was acquired by the Musée Guimet (France) in 2019, becoming the first Southeast Asian contemporary art work to be included in the French National Collection. In October 2023, the artist opened his first solo exhibition in the country, titled White Blank .

In addition to acting in her husband's previous works, in this project, Yen Khe takes on the position of art director and costume designer. The artist worked as a set designer for Cyclo (1995), art and costume designer for Norwegian Wood (2010), and designer for Eternity (2016).
