(Dan Tri) - Many places selling ornamental plants and peach blossoms for Tet have appeared on the streets of Ho Chi Minh City with various prices and sizes. However, the buying and selling atmosphere is still quite gloomy.

Near Tet, ornamental plants and flowers such as apricot, peach, grapefruit, kumquat... are transported from different regions to Ho Chi Minh City and sold at various locations.

Sharing with Dan Tri reporters, some traders at Hoang Van Thu Park flower market said that due to storms, floods, and natural disasters in the North, farmers' peach planting and care have been affected. That is why the amount of peach blossoms transported to Ho Chi Minh City this year is somewhat less than in previous years.

According to Dan Tri reporter, there are only a few days left until the year of At Ty, but the sale of ornamental flowers at the locations is still quite gloomy.

Ms. H., one of the peach garden owners at Hoang Van Thu Park, said that peach gardens along the Red River were affected by storm Yagi, but the peach trees transported to Ho Chi Minh City were still carefully selected, ensuring quality for people to enjoy during Tet.

In her garden, the price of peach trees has increased but only fluctuates from 1.5 million VND to about 3.2 million VND, still suitable for many people's budget. This price is for the original peach tree, not including the pot. The peach trees have many buds, promising to bloom in the coming days.

Similarly, Mr. T., another trader, said that since December 20, he has imported peaches from Hai Duong and Hanoi to bring to Ho Chi Minh City by truck. He said that this year peaches are selling slower than previous years. However, he does not feel too much pressure.

"It can be said that this year, peach growers have "lost in the fields" because of storms and floods. I imported peaches from the North, the price is twice as expensive as in previous years. The peaches reaching Ho Chi Minh City is already a joy, so I just hope to sell them all before the 29th of Tet," said Mr. T.

He also said that because there are few customers coming to buy peaches, his entire garden of nearly 100 peach trees is wrapped tightly in plastic bags to ensure the flowers are still fresh when they reach customers.

"I sell small trees for 1.5 million VND, large trees for about 3-4 million VND. The price also varies depending on the size of the tree, but with the current amount of buds, any tree will bloom in time for Tet.

Currently, in the Northern regions, industrial peach gardens have been developed, so the price of peaches is affordable. Growing a peach tree takes many years and a lot of effort," he said.

Similarly, owners of pomelo gardens for Tet decoration also said that this year, the number of buyers is not as large and bustling as in previous years. However, customers still come slowly and do not disappoint the garden owners.

Mr. Nguyen Quoc Viet - one of the owners of Dien grapefruit gardens in Tan Binh district - said that since around December 15, he has transported 10 Dien grapefruit trees with a price of 60 million VND each, along with nearly 100 smaller grapefruit trees from Hung Yen to Ho Chi Minh City.

"Up to now, I have sold about half of the large grapefruits. Most of the customers who come to buy grapefruits for display are businesses, companies and regular customers from previous years. This year, the economic situation is difficult, so people may stay until the last days to buy in the hope that the price will be cheaper," said Mr. Viet.
