On April 12, Chairman of Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee Phan Van Mai received Mr. Pascal Soriot, General Director of AstraZeneca Group (UK) who was on a working visit to the city, to discuss directions to promote cooperation between the two sides.

At the meeting, Mr. Phan Van Mai said that the two sides have the same development orientation and a lot of potential for cooperation. In the coming time, the two sides need to soon deploy and specifically study cooperation programs, especially in areas that the city prioritizes and AstraZeneca has strengths in, such as: developing medical research centers, developing vaccines, biological products, and medical equipment. Ho Chi Minh City is committed to creating favorable conditions in terms of space for scientific research and start-up activities in this field. Mr. Pascal Soriot said that AstraZeneca is ready to support and cooperate with the city in areas of mutual interest such as biochemical research, biological product development, etc. AstraZeneca Group is committed to sharing experiences, improving cooperation efficiency, supporting drug research, connecting solutions to develop start-up products in biochemical research, vaccines to prevent diseases at risk, etc.
* On the same afternoon, Standing Deputy Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee, Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee Phan Van Mai also attended the 15th Executive Committee meeting (expanded) organized by the Executive Committee of the Party Committee of District 1 - Ho Chi Minh City, term XII, 2020-2025.
According to Mr. Phan Van Mai, in the first half of the term, District 1 has completed new projects and works, highlighting the urban appearance of Ho Chi Minh City such as Ben Bach Dang Park, Me Linh Square Park, renovating Nguyen Hue walking street, restoring Le Loi street... He suggested that District 1 in the coming time needs to focus on developing the night-time economy and service economy.
