Deputy Minister of Public Security Tran Quoc To said cybercrime “is a global problem.”
On February 7, the National Assembly Standing Committee reviewed the National Assembly's report on people's petitions in January 2025.
At the meeting, Mr. Le Tan Toi, Chairman of the National Assembly's Committee on National Defense and Security, said that recently the Ministry of Public Security and provincial police have dismantled many online fraud rings in Nghe An, Bac Ninh, and the Central Highlands with cross-border lines, located close to the Vietnamese border, with lines of dozens to hundreds of subjects. Therefore, the issue of cyber fraud should be included in the report to raise people's vigilance.
Ms. Nguyen Thanh Hai, Head of the Delegation Affairs Committee of the National Assembly Standing Committee, said that recently, the Ministry of Public Security has focused on cracking down on online fraud very effectively, with the nature of "making one case a wake-up call for one field". Ms. Hai said that in addition to cracking down, propaganda work needs to be further promoted, and the tricks of criminals should be widely and regularly publicized.
Speaking at the meeting, Deputy Minister of Public Security Tran Quoc To said that traffic safety last year was highly appreciated by the people, with traffic accidents decreasing by 36%, which is very encouraging. Fires and explosions did occur, but they were rare and were resolved promptly.
Regarding cybercrime, Mr. To said, “it is a difficult problem of a global nature.” According to him, this type of crime uses high technology, diverse tricks, and involves coordination and collusion both in Vietnam and abroad. Deputy Minister Tran Quoc To also agreed on stepping up propaganda to raise people’s vigilance.
