Implementing the Resolution of the United Nations General Assembly choosing the third Sunday of November as the "World Day of Remembrance for Road Traffic Victims" globally, every year Vietnam, together with countries around the world, organizes activities to commemorate our compatriots who unfortunately died in traffic accidents.
The National Traffic Safety Committee said that this year, the "World Day of Remembrance for Road Traffic Victims" is held on November 19.
With the theme of the year “Rule of law to build a culture of safe traffic,” Vietnam and the world organized activities to commemorate victims of traffic accidents to express sympathy for those who died while participating in traffic and to share the loss and burden with their relatives.
This is also an opportunity for each of us to remind ourselves, our relatives and friends about the incomparable preciousness of life.
At the same time, it is also an opportunity to remind everyone about the importance of complying with traffic safety laws such as: Do not drive after drinking alcohol; Follow the speed limit - Fast for a second, slow for a lifetime; Wear a helmet for your child - Be a devoted parent; Do not use the phone while driving; Wear a seat belt when driving; Drive in the correct lane, keep a safe distance...
With the message “Remembering those who left - For those who stay,” this is the 12th year this event has been held in Vietnam and the 4th year the National Traffic Safety Committee has coordinated with Vietnam Television to organize a live television program “Memorial Ceremony for Victims of Traffic Accidents.”
The program was held in Hoa Binh province and broadcast live on VTV5 channel at 8:00 p.m. on November 19.
This is the 12th year this event has been held in Vietnam.
Every year, around 1.3 million people die and 50 million are injured in traffic accidents worldwide; traffic accidents remain the leading cause of death for people aged 15-27.
In Vietnam, in recent years, traffic accidents have always been controlled and reduced in terms of the number of cases, deaths and injuries. However, in the first 10 months of this year, there were 9,826 traffic accidents nationwide, 5,496 people lost their lives and 6,973 people were permanently disabled.
Of these, 881 traffic accidents involving students (aged 6-18) occurred, killing 490 people and injuring 827. The consequences of traffic accidents affect the achievements of economic growth and damage the image of a safe and friendly country in the eyes of friends and partners.
The National Traffic Safety Committee calls on every Vietnamese person, for the sustainable development of the country, for the safety of themselves and the community, to voluntarily comply with traffic safety regulations to prevent traffic accidents. For safety on all roads! For the happiness of everyone, every home! Remembering those who have passed away - For those who remain!
Let us act out of compassion for the dead for the safety of the living!
Everyone should strictly obey traffic laws, voluntarily give way and help each other when participating in traffic to build a safe and civilized traffic environment .
