With the spirit of "Old age - Bright example", in recent times, the elderly in Yen Bai province have always demonstrated their role and responsibility in all areas of social life, contributing to building cultural life in residential areas, becoming a bright example for the younger generation to learn and follow.
Cadres and members of the Elderly Association actively encourage their children, grandchildren in their families, clans, and people to comply with the Party's guidelines and policies, the State's laws, and to implement the conventions and village rules in residential areas and local regulations. At the same time, they contribute their efforts and intelligence to promote their exemplary role in participating in building the Party, government, Fatherland Front, and mass organizations... According to statistics, the whole province has 3,667 elderly people holding the positions of Party cell secretaries and deputy secretaries; village, residential area, and residential group heads; heads and deputy heads of the Front's work committees; heads of mass organizations; hundreds of elderly people participate in the People's Security Team and grassroots mediation team.

In order to preserve and promote the traditional cultural values and identities of ethnic groups, cadres and members of the Elderly Association have encouraged artisans to open classes to teach the craft, teach literacy, teach ethnic dance and singing to the younger generation. Many Elderly people are members of the Front Working Committee, organizations, inter-family groups, and mediators, always closely following the locality, closely attached to the people, joining hands to build a great national unity bloc, promptly resolving small conflicts within the people, ensuring political security, social order and safety, and maintaining a peaceful life. On the other hand, Elderly people proactively propagate to the people, descendants, and families to preserve the national cultural identity, fight to change previous incorrect thinking and perception, and eliminate backward customs such as dowry when marrying a wife or husband among ethnic minorities, the concept of having a son to continue the family line, weddings, funerals, fortune telling, etc.
The emulation movement "Elderly people doing good business" has created a strong influence, through which many typical examples of elderly people doing good business and production have appeared... The whole province currently has 659 elderly members directly involved in production and business; many elderly people own high-tech agricultural farms, grow organic cinnamon, raise livestock, produce and do business in the fields of industry, construction, small-scale industry, services, trade..., creating regular jobs for thousands of local workers.
Responding to the National Target Program on building new rural areas and civilized urban areas, the elderly class contributed thousands of working days, hundreds of billions of VND, donated thousands of square meters of land to build new lives, hometowns, villages, and joined hands with the province to build communes and districts that meet new rural standards according to the set plan.
Elderly care activities have always received attention and brought many positive results. The Elderly Associations at all levels coordinate with local Party committees, authorities, the Fatherland Front, departments, branches, organizations, and mobilize businesses to organize thoughtful, economical, and civilized longevity celebrations for the elderly every Tet holiday. On the occasion of the "Action Month for the Elderly in Vietnam" in 2024, the Provincial Elderly Association directed the Elderly Associations of districts, towns, and cities to develop a plan to mobilize agencies, units, and businesses located in the area to support funds to organize visits and give 6,373 gifts to poor elderly people, elderly people in difficult circumstances, lonely elderly people without support, sick, and ill.
Mr. Hoang Duc Que, Chairman of the Provincial Elderly Association, said: “In the coming time, the Association will organize activities to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the establishment of the Elderly Association (May 10); organize the contest “Elderly people happy in the family” from the grassroots to districts, towns and cities; from there, select and establish a provincial team to participate in the national competition and the 7th Provincial Elderly Volleyball Tournament”.
