Lao General Secretary and President Thongloun Sisoulith warmly welcomed National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man and the high-ranking delegation of the Vietnamese National Assembly to visit Laos and attend AIPA-45.
General Secretary and President Thongloun Sisoulith expressed his gratitude to the Party, State and people of Vietnam for standing shoulder to shoulder with Laos in the past struggle for national liberation and for their support and assistance in building and developing the country today; highly appreciated Vietnam's support and assistance in helping Laos fulfill its responsibilities as ASEAN Chair 2024 and AIPA Chair this year, especially the support given to Laos even when Vietnam was also severely affected by Typhoon Yagi (Vietnam calls it Typhoon No. 3), demonstrating the close-knit, one-of-a-kind bond in the world.

The Lao General Secretary and President highly appreciated the two sides' active coordination in implementing the results of the recent meeting between the two Politburoes, in which the Vietnamese side established a working group to implement cooperation agreements; the Lao side also organized a conference and assigned specific tasks to ministries, departments and branches.
National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man expressed his joy at returning to visit the beautiful country of Laos and meeting again with General Secretary and President Thongloun Sisoulith, a close comrade and friend of Vietnam; respectfully conveyed the regards and best wishes of General Secretary and President To Lam, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and other leaders of the Party and State of Vietnam to General Secretary and President Thongloun Sisoulith; congratulated Laos on successfully assuming the role of ASEAN Chair 2024 and believed that Laos will continue to successfully assume the role of AIPA Chair this year.
National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man expressed his delight at the great, comprehensive and historic achievements that Laos has achieved after nearly 40 years of renovation. National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man and Party General Secretary and President Thongloun Sisoulith highly appreciated the fine and solid development of the great friendship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Laos in recent years, including the very important contributions of the two countries' National Assemblies; emphasized that in the coming time, the two sides need to promote the tradition of close and trustworthy cooperation, actively implement high-level agreements, including the results of the meeting between the two Politburoes last September; continue to strengthen cooperation between the two legislative bodies of the two countries, especially the exchange of delegations at all levels, sharing experiences in amending the Constitution, supreme supervision and deciding on important issues of the country; Close cooperation and mutual support in parliamentary and international forums such as AIPA, Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU), Asia-Pacific Parliamentary Forum (APPF)...; close coordination in regional and international forums.

On the morning of October 18, within the framework of AIPA-45, in the capital Vientiane, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man, Lao National Assembly Chairman, AIPA Chairman Saysomphone Phomvihane, and Cambodian National Assembly Chairman Khuon Sudary had a working breakfast.
The three National Assembly Chairmen highly appreciated this meeting as a good opportunity for the three National Assemblies to promote more effective cooperation in the context of complicated and unpredictable developments in the regional and international situation; expressed their appreciation for the value of solidarity and cohesion between the three countries, the sacrifices for each other in the struggle for national liberation, protection of independence and sovereignty and in socio-economic development today, considering this a priceless asset that needs to be preserved and further promoted, for the benefit of each country and for all three countries.
The three National Assembly Chairmen agreed that the cooperative relations between the three countries, guided and directed by the leaders of the three Parties, are developing in all fields; in which defense and security cooperation continues to be a solid pillar; economic, trade and investment cooperation has developed strongly; cooperation in other fields such as tourism, education and training, culture, and people-to-people exchange has achieved many strong steps forward, with many innovative forms, contributing to tightening the relations between the three countries. At the same time, they affirmed that the cooperation between the National Assembly is increasingly deep and contributes to promoting comprehensive cooperation on all channels and levels; plays an important role in the cooperative relations, especially in perfecting institutions, promulgating policies and laws, supporting the Government in socio-economic development, ensuring security and defense of each country as well as promoting connectivity between the three economies of Vietnam - Laos - Cambodia. The three sides agreed to coordinate and prepare well for the meeting between the leaders of the three Parties in the coming time.
