Many people who witnessed the landslide said that at first they only heard a few popping sounds coming from the houses, then after about 30 minutes, 4/9 houses completely collapsed into the river.

Mr. Le Van Thuan (Tich Loc hamlet, Tich Thien commune) recounted: "My house collapsed last time, half of it was left, last night it fell into the river, now there is only the threshold of the door to the house left, the two houses above are also broken, and below there are signs that the two houses are also cracked and collapsed at one corner".
People sat sadly watching their houses being submerged by the river.
According to the authorities, up to now, the landslide on the Tra On riverbank, in Tich Loc hamlet, Tich Thien commune, Tra On district, has a length of 80 m, causing 4 houses of local people to collapse completely into the river, 4 houses collapsed over 60% of the area, 1 house is forecast to continue to collapse...

This morning, Mr. Nguyen Van Liet, Vice Chairman of Vinh Long Provincial People's Committee, along with leaders of Tra On District and officials of specialized agencies, came to survey and direct the recovery work. The Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee assigned Tra On District People's Committee to quickly resettle a qualified household and support households whose houses were damaged.
Long cracks appear, predicting that the landslide shows no signs of stopping
"In the immediate future, the Provincial People's Committee has issued a decision to declare a state of emergency for landslides at this location. The details have been assigned to the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development to quickly find the cause, coordinate with the Department of Construction to review the entire area, the licensing issue, the issue of building a solid 2-storey house on the riverbank is very dangerous, there must be a quick report on this matter," said Mr. Nguyen Van Liet.
People collect remaining property after the landslide
Currently, there are still many long cracks appearing on this riverbank area, which are expected to become more complicated and serious in the coming time. Experts warn people not to enter the dangerous area to avoid unfortunate damage.
