(NLDO) - Gold prices today broke the old peak to increase to a new record after the US prepared to apply new tariff policies to a number of countries.

Gold price today fluctuates unpredictably

After reaching a peak of 2,823 USD/ounce, the world gold price continued to rise, setting a new record of 2,830 USD/ounce. However, at this price, some investors sold gold to take profits when the US changed the time to apply the new tax rate.

Therefore, the world gold price was forced to cool down and by 6:00 a.m. on February 4, it was trading at 2,815 USD/ounce - still up 49 USD compared to the lowest price in last night's trading session of 2,766 USD/ounce.

In Vietnam, at the end of February 3 (the 6th day of Tet), some gold shops sold gold rings for 88 million VND/tael. Gold rings produced by SJC Company alone cost 89.2 million VND/tael. Meanwhile, SJC gold bars were sold by businesses for 89.8 million VND/tael.

Gold prices today fluctuate unpredictably in the context of the US announcing a 25% tax on imported goods from Canada and Mexico and a 10% tax on Chinese goods.

This information makes the market worry that it could cause global economic instability. Since then, many people have increased their gold purchases to prevent risks. The world's gold price today has increased dramatically, which is understandable.

However, after US President Donald Trump agreed to suspend tariffs for at least 30 days on Canada and Mexico, demand for gold has stalled, causing the world's gold price to begin to weaken today.
