Farmers compete and unite to help each other get rich and sustainably reduce poverty.
Identified as a core movement, bringing practical benefits to members and farmers, in recent years, the movement "farmers compete in good production and business, unite to help each other get rich and sustainably reduce poverty" has created a strong effect, positively affecting the lives of farming households, contributing significantly to the socio-economic development of the locality.
In recent times, the movement of "farmers competing in good production and business, uniting to help each other get rich and sustainably reduce poverty" has been developed by the Bac Ninh Provincial Farmers' Association in both breadth and depth, creating a premise for farmers to access the market and integrate internationally. Along with the promulgation of regulations on standards for good production and business households, every year, the Bac Ninh Provincial Farmers' Association has assigned targets to strive for, and at the same time directed the grassroots Association to evaluate, commend and honor good production and business households accurately and promptly. Actively coordinate with departments, organizations, and mass media agencies to strengthen the dissemination of policies to support production development, support loans; organize training courses to transfer scientific and technical advances, and teach vocational skills to farmers.
One of the important activities to promote the movement is to create favorable conditions and provide practical support for members in production. Farmers' Associations at all levels cooperate with enterprises to supply fertilizers and animal feed on credit, provide technical guidance on building barns and livestock, introduce sources of quality breeding stock and guarantee output products for people. Thereby, encouraging farming households to actively develop the economy, change the structure of crops and livestock, expand production scale; many households boldly invest funds, apply technical advances, contributing to improving production and business efficiency.
From this movement, many effective economic models have emerged, providing high income, creating regular jobs for local workers. Up to now, the whole province has formed 60 concentrated production areas. Initially, some models have brought high economic efficiency such as: Flower and ornamental plant areas of over 500 million VND/ha/year in Tien Du, Tu Son town, Bac Ninh city; green vegetable areas of 300 million VND/ha/year in Tu Son town, Tien Du, Yen Phong, Thuan Thanh and Bac Ninh city; tomato areas of 180 million VND/ha/year in Thuan Thanh, Tien Du; onion and garlic areas of 150 million VND/ha/year in Gia Binh, Luong Tai; carrot growing areas of 120 million VND/ha/year in Gia Binh, Luong Tai, etc.
According to statistics from the Association at all levels, on average, each year, the movement attracts more than 90,000 farmer households to register to participate. Through evaluation, 90% of registered households achieve the title of good farmer and business. With boldness and certainty in investment, many farmer households have escaped poverty and become rich legitimately. Not only enriching themselves and their families, good farmer and business households help many poor households in the same village and commune with science and technology, seedlings or create regular jobs for local workers, helping many households escape poverty.
Not only helping members develop the economy, reduce poverty and get rich, the movement of "farmers competing in good production and business, uniting to help each other get rich and sustainably reduce poverty" has also had a positive impact on the construction of new rural areas in localities through contributing human and financial resources to build rural infrastructure, protect the environment; propagating and mobilizing people to unite, build cultural life, support each other in life, affirming the role of Farmers' Associations at all levels, contributing to the construction of new rural life.
Effectiveness of Farmer Support Fund
In addition to the effectiveness of the movement “farmers compete in good production and business, unite to help each other get rich and sustainably reduce poverty”, to support Bac Ninh farmers to get rich, in recent years, the Bac Ninh Farmers Support Fund has helped thousands of members and farmers to borrow production capital with preferential interest rates to develop the economy. This capital source has become an important driving force to help farming households build effective economic models, gradually improve their lives, and eliminate hunger and reduce poverty.
According to the Farmers' Association of Bac Ninh province, by the end of June 2022, there were over 1,600 households in the province borrowing from the Farmers' Support Fund with a total capital of over 112 billion VND for livestock, crop, aquaculture, craft village and other projects.
Mr. Tran Dang Sam, Chairman of the Farmers' Association of Bac Ninh province, affirmed that the Farmers' Support Fund has helped households access preferential capital from the state, contributing to promoting household economy. From this fund, farmers have built effective livestock and crop models, contributing to creating jobs and increasing income for members and their families. However, in reality, this capital source is still limited, meeting only a small part of the total loan demand of members and farmers.
According to Mr. Tran Dang Sam, in order for the farmer support fund to be effective, in the coming time, the Bac Ninh Farmers' Association will continue to promote propaganda for members and farmers to promptly grasp the policies and support policies related to the interests of the people, thereby helping farmers access and benefit from the policies. At the same time, the Association will also select suitable and feasible loan models, ensuring the effective use of capital and the ability to replicate.
In particular, in order to improve the operational efficiency of the Farmers' Support Fund, the People's Committee of Bac Ninh province also issued Decision No. 335 approving the Project "Innovation, improving the operational efficiency and development of the Farmers' Support Fund of Bac Ninh province for the period 2021-2030".
The project aims to help farmers access preferential capital from the province, increase capital for investment, expansion and application of science, technology and new technologies in production and business from the farmer support fund at all levels, contributing to the restructuring of the agricultural economy, building advanced new rural areas and model new rural areas.
Accordingly, in the 2021-2025 period, Bac Ninh ensures a provincial budget source for the farmer support fund of 10 billion VND or more/year and 15 billion VND or more/year in the 2026-2030 period; a grant of 300 million VND or more/unit/year and a commune-level budget of 10 million VND or more/unit/year...
