Before the match in Group C of the 2023 National U.21 Championship held at Thanh Hoa Stadium on the afternoon of September 19, U.21 Da Nang was rated higher than U.21 Khanh Hoa. However, when entering the match, the Han River team could not create an overwhelming situation against the opponent. However, striker Pham Dinh Duy, with experience playing in the V-League and having played for U.23 Vietnam, played a leading role to help his teammates U.21 Da Nang achieve an important victory.

In the first half, from a corner kick on the right wing, Dinh Duy moved wisely to be there in time and kicked the ball into the net of Khanh Hoa U.21 team, opening the score for Da Nang U.21 before the match went into halftime. However, after a 15-minute break, when the two teams were preparing to return to the field for the second half, the floodlights at Thanh Hoa Stadium suddenly had a problem.

The new Southeast Asian champion striker with U.23 Vietnam - Pham Dinh Duy (21) shined with a double goal to help U.21 Da Nang win 3 points in the opening match.

The floodlight failure caused the match to be suspended for about an hour. Returning to the field after an unexpected long break, Pham Dinh Duy still knew how to shine. In the 54th minute, the striker of Da Nang Club skillfully dribbled the ball in the penalty area, forcing the opposing defender to commit a foul and the referee immediately pointed to the 11m mark. On the penalty spot, the U.23 Vietnam striker made no mistake to complete his double. This was also the goal that sealed a 2-0 victory for the Han River team against U.21 Khanh Hoa.
