Promoting "Make in Vietnam" digital technology in manufacturing

Suppliers say that businesses still face challenges when approaching digital technology in the production process.

During the discussion sessions of the High-level Forum and International Exhibition on Industry 4.0, many issues were mentioned such as how to improve the smart manufacturing capacity of enterprises, especially developing the industry. digital technology according to the Make in Vietnam orientation.

Ericsson Group predicts that Vietnam is considered an attractive destination for global smart manufacturers, with revenue from the 5G industry estimated to reach 1.54 billion USD by 2030. Many solutions were discussed at the seminar.

According to suppliers, businesses still face challenges when approaching digital technology in the production process. For example, the problem of investment costs, or training personnel to adapt to digital technology.

"In the process of implementing digital transformation solutions for businesses and factories, there are also many difficulties and challenges. Regarding the human resources system, when digitally transforming and applying new technology, the human resources team must ensure that they quickly grasp and understand the transformation process," said Mr. Nguyen Duc Quy, General Director of VCONNEX Industrial Technology Joint Stock Company.

To promote the application of digital technology in manufacturing, experts say suppliers should optimize features such as supporting businesses between operations, production and customer experience.

In addition, businesses should also build an ecosystem combining digital technology companies to be able to provide products at the most suitable price for businesses, especially small and medium enterprises.

"Optimizing product features from the operational and production stages, improving the operational efficiency of the production and business process. Only then will businesses see the effectiveness of the investment needed to invest," said Mr. Shashi Jagadiswaran, Deputy General Director in charge of Technology Consulting Department, EY Consulting Vietnam JSC.

"We need to connect the ecosystem of Vietnamese technologies and digital technology businesses together to bring products to the market in the most suitable and cheapest way. That is also an advantage when we develop products in other countries in the region," said Mr. Nguyen Thien Nghia, Deputy Director of the Department of Information Technology, Ministry of Information and Communications.

At the same time, Make in Vietnam digital technology enterprises need to have mechanisms, preferential policies, or training and development of digital technology human resources to create conditions to promote strong application in the production process, contributing to the 4.0 industrialization process.

According to data from the Ministry of Information and Communications, digital technology industry revenue is a bright spot in Vietnam's economy, reaching 148 billion USD, with more than 70,000 enterprises and an estimated export value of 136 billion USD by 2022.
